Antivirus recommendations

Anyone got a recommendation for a free/lowcost antivirus? Or should I just go ahead with Nortons?

your own personal use then go with http://www.grisoft.com/ and use the AVG free edition. If someone here bags on it then they don't know how to use it. I can probably answer all of your questions so ask away. So long as it's for your home I'd do a few things. I'd run a free firewall such as ZoneAlarm (free) it's really pretty cool. I am willing to help you with that. I'd also install and run Spybot Search & Destroy. Then just have some good basic browsing practices. You can probably learn a lot from my articles on this see this one: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/work/antispyware.aspx[^] I think it's packed full of information and I'll take you as far as you want to go.

He's insecure. Hasn't turned 13 yet and feels horribly sorry for himself. To bad we don't feel sorry for him. But :) that's okay. It's a sign of his mentallity. He cannot fathom a number larger than 1 and interestingly that means in his life he is number 1 which also means in his life he's the only 1. So he's also the lonely 1. Sometimes 1 isn't so great. Case in point. :laugh:

Just get Kaspersky Internet Security 2009. It comes with 3 user license. and Its best and less resource hungry. I am using it since 2-3 years (version 6.0) and never had any virus problems. I bought version 2009 from amazon.com for $25.00 / 3 users, few days ago. dont even think about norton or mcafee.

A bit late I know but I would second AVG for a free AntiVirus. Highly recommended.

I have seen the corporate edition claiming about 150MB of memory in 2 of its processes. Endpoint seems to be better, however I have not watched it that much.

Symantec Corporate AV is a completely separate codebase from Norton Home. It's not pretty but is reasonably well behaved (not that I wouldn't still upgrade to avast/avg free if it was my choice), compared to the POS they box for retail.
