Qatada[^] given compensation for human rights abusers. He is fighting against being sent to Jordan because he is a bit scared, and is given compensation because we locked him up for a bit! This bastard wants to kill and maim and now this happens? What of others Human Rights? I think we should ditch this HR bullshit and just execute the fucker, publicly, and drench him in petrol and burn him. As a warning to the others!

Agreed. The human rights act should have two tiers; the first is 'absolute', which cannot be ignored, and the second becomes invalid the instant a criminal offence is committed. "Judges said the British government had breached three articles of the European Convention on Human Rights, including the right to liberty, the right for lawfulness of detention to be decided by a court and the right to compensation for unlawful detention. " The compensation is not for being 'locked...up for a bit', but being locked up without due process, without enough evidence presented to show detention was justified. Which is a rather important right, no? Habeas corpus, preventing police states since 1215... There's plenty of HR bullsh*t around, but this is not one of those cases, sorry.

Hi Dave, never said there wasn't evidence. For all I know the government have photos of him boiling and eating babies and using kittens for live target practice, wouldn't surprise me much. But evidence not presented is not evidence at all, it's rumour. You don't want a government able to convict based on rumour, you really don't. While in principle I agree wholeheartedly with everything you said, executing him in this way would make a "martyr" out of him to others like him. Sending him to Jordan would be the right thing to do because he will be judged. Also, HR is not the local police's forte.
