How the F### have we got to this state of affairs?

Agreed. The human rights act should have two tiers; the first is 'absolute', which cannot be ignored, and the second becomes invalid the instant a criminal offence is committed. Qatada is the scum of the earth. I'm against the death penalty on principle, but for his compensation, he should be sent into space. Without the spacesuit.

Qatada[^] given compensation for human rights abusers. He is fighting against being sent to Jordan because he is a bit scared, and is given compensation because we locked him up for a bit! This bastard wants to kill and maim and now this happens? What of others Human Rights? I think we should ditch this HR bullshit and just execute the fucker, publicly, and drench him in petrol and burn him. As a warning to the others!

How? Mostly by Labour writing spectacularly shoddy anti-terrorism legislation. "Judges said the British government had breached three articles of the European Convention on Human Rights, including the right to liberty, the right for lawfulness of detention to be decided by a court and the right to compensation for unlawful detention. " The compensation is not for being 'locked...up for a bit', but being locked up without due process, without enough evidence presented to show detention was justified. Which is a rather important right, no? Habeas corpus, preventing police states since 1215... There's plenty of HR bullsh*t around, but this is not one of those cases, sorry.

See, this is why I don't care about the world any more.

That's only half your problem. The other side of the coin is that you *hate* (and imagine yourself superior to) anyone who does care about the world. The coin as a whole: you care about attacking those who are not nihilists and who oppose nihilism. So you fail even at being a nihilist. What a pathetic thing you are.

No way. I admire people who dedicate their lives to helping other people. I used to talk about how I would make my mark on the world, make it a better place, but now I know that I can't, and that it doesn't want me to. But, for some reason it still bothers me when bad things happen.

I think you two would get on well. So don't you think there should be any sort of compensation for those wrongly imprisioned?

Actually there is supposedly much evidence against him, but unfortunately the British Government do not wish to try him as it would expose various techniques and surveillance employed by the Intelligence Angencies, and they wish to keep that secret. I say put him in a plane to Jordan today.

Hi Dave, never said there wasn't evidence. For all I know the government have photos of him boiling and eating babies and using kittens for live target practice, wouldn't surprise me much. But evidence not presented is not evidence at all, it's rumour. You don't want a government able to convict based on rumour, you really don't. Not even (or perhaps especially not) just to get rid of a scumbag like this. Niels.

Send him to space yes. Make his orbit opposed to all other satellites so that, given time, he will be hit by one of the bits of debris from the collision the other day.

Nah, give him the suit. Just put him in a low enough orbit that he reenters before he runs out of air.

For the same reason the UK went from the most powerful nation on the planet... to where it is now.

While in principle I agree wholeheartedly with everything you said, executing him in this way would make a "martyr" out of him to others like him. Sending him to Jordan would be the right thing to do because he will be judged. Also, HR is not the local police's forte.
