    Hi. I've heard there are some viruses that damage to hardware like Keyboard ! Some of my friends have told , a virus has damaged to their Keyboard !!! Is it possible ?:confused: I've found it With NOD32: 3/11/2009 5:08:39 AM Real-time file system protection file ... Win32/Virut.NBM virus cleaned - quarantined NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM Event occurred during an attempt to access the file by the application: C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE.

      Yes, it is possible to over heat something, maybe catch fire or burn out chips.

            A worm that destroyed a CPU fan and caused the system to overheat.[^] This worm affects fans on all platforms, and all versions of all operating systems. There are no software patches available from any vendor to protect against the attack. :cool:

                          The keyboard.. now that's rare.. did it really do that or did it just mess with the driver or something like that?

                            Actually it strongly damage the Keyboard, it has damaged my keyboard :( and some its keys broken I'm using my old keyboard right now.

                                Note that viruses can't do any damage to hardware: they won't melt down your CPU, burn out your hard drive, cause your monitor to explode, etc. Warnings about viruses that will physically destroy your computer are usually hoaxes, not legitimate virus warnings. source[^]

                                Yusuf Oh didn't you notice, analogous to square roots, they recently introduced rectangular, circular, and diamond roots to determine the size of the corresponding shapes when given the area. Luc Pattyn[^]

                                        Yes, very. There was once a virus which would overwrite the data in the BIOS chip of the motherboard with just random junk, next time you turned the computer on, that was it... the computer wouldnt do a thing X|

                                        Lloyd J. Atkinson I used Vista the other day. It was also the last time I will ever voluntarily use the damn thing. I would rather use Windows 1.0 just because it dosent literally chew the RAM just to draw pretty colours.

                                          Its my understanding that there were viruses that could (don't ask me how or if this is even true) mess around with the read/write head on HDD. You can imagine what could happen.
