We shall hit #500 and keep climbing. The Code Project folding team is kicking down the competition. Slashdot got slashed, space.com got spaced, team ninja was assassinated, Clan Nexus was nixed, the overclocked remix was underclocked. One by one Code Project is knocking down the folding competition.... I won't speak much of this as I promised, but I figured you might like to know when we are about to break the 500 mark. When I posted my first message we were #526 or something like that... we're still climbing the list! before this time tomorrow we should be at #500.

It's a world-wide competition to acheive the most complex origami animal ever designed by computer. With a case of beer for every participant at stake, you can imagine the competition is quite fierce, and CP has been extremely active for years now.

I'm teaching the crew to fold micro-fiber rice paper over one acre... we're trying to make a 1:1 scale elephant to win.... It still looks a bit mousy, but I am working on the details for the team....

I presume this started out as a DoD project to design a mouse...

You forget, I spent most of my career working for DoD contractors designing ATE. I helped to develop much of the MATE standard(s), and fought hard to make them make sense. I lost the battle. Sorry about that... Why in the world anyone would think it makes sense to design equipment intended to operate in an air conditioned, humidity-controlled, shock-resistant launch control facility to meet a requirement to survive a fall from ten feet, operate in 95% humidity, resist fungus and salt spray, and fulfill NucCert and TEMPEST standards while at the same time utilizing mandated COTS equipment, I'll never understand. It added $2 million to the cost of each $100,000 rack of support equipment. The AIG bailout is as nothing compared to the money squandered by DoD on useless contract requirements.

and it's mothballed immediately upon a new admin. :) yup, been there, done that. I've used a million dollar origin 2000 system to multi million CM-5 and origin systems, and they were all mothballed faster than you can say new budget, more money, greasy palms.... I've watched a launch with a dead sensor and waste a multi-million dollar missile because the contractor (not us) was going to be fined a few hundred thousand for not reaching the launch goal. We've both on different sides, but experiences were the same.

OK, so how do I get it to start when I start the computer. At this point it seems to start when I log in, but I'm not logged in all the time.

there are a few utilities to turn programs into background demon type operations, but I have never tried them.... I just login and lock the screen.
