I have suggested lots of things, including an "I have seen this, don't show it ever again" button, a "hide unapproved stuff" setting, buttons to vote on separate aspects of "articles" (length, content, style, clarity, ...) to no avail. Rather than make life easier for people who devote part of their time to make this a nice site, recent changes made it more difficult to tell you didn't like the "article" for some reason; now you have to type a lot of comment, and expect replies to that, etc etc. while CodeProject refuses to install a simple filter that would throw away half of the junk automatically anyway, without risking false negatives. :)

Good point, but I'm too innately helpful to not want to to lend a hand as best I can

Having looked into some of the forums, I'd disagree when it comes to stupidity. One person didn't Google something because (s)he claimed that it was 'offline'

Have you considered using AdBlock? A simple filter will block part of a site, and you can enable or disable the rule as you wish

yes, unfortunately only a small subset of the alternatives got offered. Why isn't anyone using Altavista any more? :)

I hadn't. I now looked into it, I don't believe it would help, the "articles-needing-approval" is just a table inside a div, there is no URL called or whatever. :)

There doesn't need to be. It's possible to block individual elements[^]. I've been blocking all Google and CP adverts for quite some time now

You're welcome. But I'm not a professional developer. I can very rarely afford to buy a control for $### when I can build one myself and learn from it. I've done this about 50 times, and it's worked like a charm. I'll try to upload them along with articles sometime

I trust you only pay attention to this restriction when you are using your employer's Internet connection. If you are posting from home, what the hell business is it of theirs where and what you post?

I've currently got 506 messages, and have been a member for 2.5 years. According to the little snippet on my profile I should be Gold. To be precise, this bit: Each 500 messages posted adds one level, and if a member has posted a message then each year of membership adds 1 level until the member hits Silver Each year of membership adds 1 level - check, putting me at Silver Each 500 messages posted adds one level - check. So, which level should I be? This is a little confusing, and I could do with some clarification

If you have to ask about status you automatically have none. ;)
