Anyone got any recommendations for ajax frameworks? I ran into Dojo, looked interesting. I'm looking at stuff that's not .Net, since I won't be using ASP.NET for this.

We're usign extJS, which is a whole JavaScript framework, which AFAIK includes AJAX, along with kitchen sinks etc.

I will suggest you to use AJAX Control Toolkit [^]and jQuery[^]. Both are going to be integrated in VS2010. And also these will cover almost all the things that you want to do in any website. I just looked at the dojo and most of the demos are not working in IE8 (I dont know, might be just for me). :)

jQuery [^]is extremely easy to use and powerful. It's also what MS decided to include with their new ASP.NET MVC. But jQuery doesn't have any dependency on .NET or ASP.NET. It's a pure javascript library.

It depends on what you want to do. Light weight JS framework with some widgets: jQuery and prototype/scriptaculous are good enough. Lot of heavy duty widgets to replace a desktop app: extJS. dojo is huge but I did not feel that it offered me something which the above frameworks did not.

jQuery and prototyejs are the best javascript frameworks
