The newly relaunched Typographica site is showcasing their "Favorite Typefaces of 2008". Check out the amazing Compendium font. Another nice one: Newzald. Oh, and for the 305 free fonts, visit this site. Battlestar, Addams Family, and the CNN fonts are there.
Best wishes, Hans

Very cool. Now if there was just a "download all" button. The thought of 305 separate downloads makes my fingers twitch.

Interesting. But as a developer, I use maybe 5 different fonts in a year. 305 is a bit much. :) I guess if you're a designer of sorts it might come in handy.

Well, of course it depends on how much Visual Studio is sucking that particular day - you want a font that matches the suckage.

Lol. Poor VS has been taking a beating lately. Despite the times it sucks (for me, it's using the WinForms designer), it's a pretty dang good tool. Speaking of VS and fonts, it would be kind of funny to set a co-workers VS to use some strange font from this site. Hmmm...you've just given me some April Fools ideas for next year. :-)

I was just writing to say that this is 300 more fonts than I would ever install...

The Download Them All (DTA)[^] add-on for Firefox will do this (and much more!). --G

Only if you're a poor designer. Free fonts tend to be missing the last bits of polish (eg kerning) needed to make a first class product.

Hmm...as art I can appreciate it, as a guy who used to work in a sign shop for many years I wouldn't touch fonts like compendium with a barge pole. In practical terms font's are designed to convey information first and foremost, if you can't read them then they failed at their most basic purpose, but as art they are beautiful yeah.
