I went to Amsterdam a couple of years ago, and I tell you what, it's a damn site nicer than any UK town centre I've been in. The streets were clean, there were regular police patrols and the people were very friendly. Didn't see a single incident, it was strange (yet very nice) just to chill with a few buddies in a coffee shop, playing pool and "relaxing", instead of chugging beers and dancing like a twat :)

It will also help in the fight on drug's as now it's legal no need to go undr ground to get it and so will help with crime.
Indeed, in fact if all drugs were legalised and taxed, this would free up billions of £$€'s around the world. Firstly there would not be the cost of policing, second the tax raised itself and thirdly the saving in other areas of crime. I know that a recent estimate said the over a 3rd of all crime was drug related. I think all drugs should be made available, as it would also act as a cull on the stupid!

Damn :laugh: It's been a long day already, battery mysteriously packed in on my car overnight. Fantastic job by the AA as usual though, got to me in 15 minutes and had me moving straight away. Now on top of the MOT that's scheduled today, a new feckin' battery is on the cards. Methinks I'm gonna take up Mr Darling on his scrappage scheme...

we where having a debate like this at work last week. and I think I agree with you but you have to put warnings on everything! It just feels wrong to me although maybe that is because of the way I was brought up!

we where having a debate like this at work last week. and I think I agree with you but you have to put warnings on everything! It just feels wrong to me although maybe that is because of the way I was brought up!
Remove the warnings from everything and let the problems of humanity sort themselves out. If they can't figure out that drugs in extreme quantities are bad for them, let them find out the hard way. Oh, and don't sponsor the health care for those that continue to abuse drugs either. (Sorry, the cynic in me gets a little rampant when it comes to wasting tax money on people who continually do stupid things).

I think that might well work pretty much everywhere except in the UK. As the world leaders in binge drinking/alcohol abuse it would surely be incumbent upon us to aim for top spot in the drug overdose/abuse tables. To the detriment of town centres nationwide.

We need fewer warnings on things not more. The more people are allowed to take responsibility for their own actions the better. People should be allowed to make their own choices in life and should be expected to accept the consequences of those actions. You shouldn't need a label to understand that there might be side-effects to any activity and it should be up to the individual concerned to take steps to ascertain whether he or she perceives the benefits to outweigh the risks.

From what I gather it's not as though drugs aren't pretty much freely available in the UK already. Add to which the fact that dealers don't have things like last orders and time at the bar and you'll probably find that legalising the stuff would make it less available rather than more.
