I think he actually meant that it offended his sensibilities after having it beaten into his head that all variable names should be descriptive. I had a friend at uni who'd just pick things as animals or countries for his variable names, so you'd get code like for( zebra = 1; zebra < elephant; zebra++ ) (and the actual code had nothing to do with animals) -- Help me! I'm turning into a grapefruit!

The guy has a SERIOUS ego problem and a SEVERE lack of appropriate etiquette. I also believe him to have a deep-rooted sociological disorder (take your pick, though I am not a doctor) as he seems to have a very clear problem conversing with people of different viewpoints. Short of that though the King's work seems to be of a good standard. I say "seems to be" as I am unable to keep my concentration for long when reading through the egotistical tripe text. They look like something out of an eBay auction rather than a technology article. I must agree with Paul about his bio though - I fall out of my chair with pitiful laughter each time I read it. I *love* that part about being on "Who's Who of America"... do you guys know I was listed in the Who's Who of Architectural and Engineering Professionals at the age of twelve? I kid you not. Those guys select you based upon union and magazine subscriptions, not your skill, and getting listed is as simple as signing a form by return mail. :-D Should Bill go away? Of course not! He usually emerges from the woodwork every couple of months and provides a heated day of extreme entertainment for the regulars. The day Bill SerGio pops in for a chat is like the day you first discovered your penis - you just can't stop rubbing him up the wrong way.

Paul Watson wrote: Except his bio. I highly recommend Bill's bio as a great cure for a humourless monday. Well, as Paul rarely gives frivolous advice, I decided to check it out for myself. Absolutely outstanding entertainment value! Don't know why a successful movie producer needs to write code, but then, the world is full of things that I don't know. Furthermore, you simply must go to his home page, if for no other reason than to see the great animated icon for his Internet Whacker! Some of you may even want to model the Informercial King Whackers that I know you're secretly working on in private to sport a similar icon. I respect the opinion of those who are protecting the level of quality here, but hey, if this is the largest problem in life, then life's pretty darned good. Personally, I would not want to live in a world where being completely tasteless was against the law. I subscribe to the free will sentiments echoed by others here. If I know something's going to offend me, I simply exercise the option to ignore it. Personally, I highly recommend BS as an excellent value for your entertainment dollar! :-D Chistopher Duncan Author - The Career Programmer: Guerilla Tactics for an Imperfect World (Apress)

Would you walk into a bar and tell people there that drinking beer is for stupid people? I don't think so. But here is what Bill had to say when CPians pointed out that he shouldn't post "commercial" articles without source code: Bill SerGio wrote: It is clear that you guys are NOT entrepreneurs and feel that a small salary from an employers is enough for your families! If you want to read my response, please see: http://www.codeproject.com/useritems/autoupdate.asp?msg=286635#xx286635xx[^] I really think something should finally be done. This is by no means the first time that he has been the focus of problems (search the Lounge, you'll find pleanty of stuff). It's sad that we've come to this sorry point, but (IMHO) we need to protect the site from people who can't play by the rules. Chris, I trust you do something about this. This is more like: "Get a BIG **** fast! Grow 100 inches in three seconds!" I don't think so. Or is CP to become a spam haven for porn sites? Again: I don't think so.
