IE 6

The only experience I have had with IE 6 is on XP machines, but I haven’t used it all too much. I noticed that they made all the icons all cute and snuggly X| and the interface has changed a little as well. I am running 2000 Prof. And I believe the interface will not be so “XP” in 2000, which is good in my opinion. But other than that is anyone using IE 6? If so what are some of the major changes, and is it worth upgrading from 5.0… because I am sure there is no going back once you cross over. Thanks for any insight anyone can give me. ;P

I only use IE 6 in college. Seems to work fine for me there. I've had no complaints about it. Regards, Brian Dela :-)

It works great on Win2K, except that nearly all web pages report a script error on line 3. Ignoring the message doesn't hurt anything, though. It crashes several times a week on WinXP, though, but happily it offers to send the info to Microsoft, so I gleefully do my best to flood their servers with helpful information they won't use. In fact, almost every program (Microsoft only) crashes regularly, and I'm more than happy to contribute to their store of uncorrelated statistics.:-D Old malted hops and yeasts never die, they just slowly stupify...

I'm running 2000prof with ie6 and i've had no major issues. of course, the ever-so-popular "this program has crashed, would you like to tell microsoft about?" error box with "don't send" and "send buttons". :-D but that happened many more times in 5.0 (and 5.5). so i say make the jump to 6.0 (any reason, besides the ole "the number is bigger, so it *must* be better!" school of thought?) And my button looks normal to me. Then again, I can't remember what they looked like before. all i remember is that the blue "e" changed. :-D

Matthew R. Miller wrote: But other than that is anyone using IE 6? LOL do kids like Santa Clause? IE6 is one of the fastest "uptake" browsers ever, i.e. people upgraded damned fast. It actually is IE5.5/5.0 with better web standards support. Sure the interface changed a bit, but they do that for every major release don't they? And it is nothing fundamental, just some new icons (which I think look great.) All in all a good browser. But if you really hate it that much, use Mozilla 1.0 or Netscape 6.2. Just as good.
