OK, but most of that wasn't the governments fault. And though we excel at them, we didn't invent nor do we exactly have a monopoly on bad spelling, bad grammar, illegal wars, friendly fire or obesity. And I'd probably argue with you on the point of grammar anyway.

I figured it was still contested by the Bush-is-the-anti-Christ crowd. Still, even if there's room for contention on the first election, I don't think Gore won it any more than Bush did. I do so wish that just once we could have a clean honest election without all the BS. And he was still capable of legally holding that office, regardless of whether or not the election was clean.

Boney, if the worst thing about Obama is the possibility that he was not born on American soil then we have no problems at all. Whether he was born, naturalized, or is an illegal alien is yesterday's battle. Rehashing it now is like the Dems arguing about whether the Surpemes gave the election to Bush. A difference that makes no difference is no difference.

I watched all 56 minutes of it and, all the whole I was impressed. I've heard him speak more eloquently, and I've heard say things I felt better about than what I heard to day, but he wasn't talking to me and he wasn't really talking to America. I think he got across the message he needed to. Instead he was speaking for America - and before whining starts, the answer is around 60% of the American voters said he could, that's who. He occasionally irritated me as when he claimed that our bribing a bunch of insurrectionists to switch sides back in the 50's could be deemed the moral equivalent of being the greatest sponsor of terrorism on the face of the planet, but on the whole he spoke truth to people who didn't necessarily want to hear it. (When he said that the two major factions of of Arabic Islam needed to work out their differences, there was thunderous silence that echoed in the room.) Sometimes he spoke this truth to the Middle-Eastern Muslims, sometimes he spoke it to Israel (Finally, an American President not afraid of the "Jewish Vote," and willing to remind Israel that they are bought and paid for.) I believe he went over there to say something along the lines of "whatever the past, let's start working towards a future of coexistence and respect." He didn't say it in a way that would seem weak to the macho cultures of the Middle East and he made it clear that Holocaust denial was not acceptable, any more than any bullshit justification of 9/11 was. Now it's up to the Middle Easterners. As I said yesterday, they need to reclaim their manhood and stop playing the role of victim, however much that might justify cowardly attacks against women and children, and however much it might provide an excuse for not getting off their ass and working towards a better future. For the sake of their grand-kids, and my grand-kids, I hope they do.

This speech was virtually indistinquishable from any number that Bush gave on the same subject. Yes, Obama is more hostile to Israel, the only people in that region who don't want to kill us, than Bush, but that is a very, very, bad thing. Obama believes he has some magical power to compel by the power of his personality and his self proclaimed intellect. And I'm sure the Muslims will be more than happy to let him keep right on believing that as they play him like a fiddle.

I disagree, it's a huge problem. Even if he does fit the Constitutional requirement, it's still a problem that you can run, be elected and sworn in, without ever producing the documentation to prove yourself eligible. And that's just the best case scenario. Think about what it means if he doesn't meet the requirement. That would mean that the entire structure allowed the Constitution to be completely ignored. The DNC, the media, Congress, the Supreme Court, etc... If he's not eligible, we'd better not ever find out, which thanks to his many legal teams fighting the various cases we likely won't every know. Throwing him out of office would cause many very large problems, and leaving him in office would as well. And again, if it's not a big deal, then were's the document? We deserve to see it, and we should have before now. Just the fact that there is a question is big.

And if it's not? Then all could have been avoided by enforcing the Constitution, without which we aren't who we thought we were all along.

Bush was a natural born citizen. Ya know, like the Constitution requires? And however suspect those elections may have been, this last one certainly didn't improve on transparency and honesty. So, what exactly am I missing that I need to wake up and realize?

                          A) The US doesn't currently have a president, you mean the guy currently illegally holding the office of president. B) Acknowledging the existence of countries outside of America? Call your pharmacists and tell him something has gone horribly wrong. C) I don't know if you've noticed, but the free world is already on pretty shaky ground at the moment.

Chaining ourselves to the moral high ground does not make us good guys. Aside from making us easy targets, it merely makes us idiotic prisoners of our own self loathing.

Really? Where did you get that fact from? May I remind you of the submarine incident and espoinage? Lebanon is a very small country but I can assure you we have nothing but respect to the US...

I agree. It was a B+. Given the tightrope he had to walk, that is impressive.

It was very humble and strict at the same time. Its cool from time to time to put things in perspective. I am a bush fan but I have to say I was very impressed.

I know, eventually I'll have to let it go, because nothing will be done about it. Which pisses me off most. But it really is important[^].

You can produce the necessary documentation, run, be elected, sworn in... and still be utterly unqualified for the job. Just distract enough people... It's like an HR department that's completely obsessed with only hiring candidates that have a certain degree. Nothing wrong with it, but wastes time and effort for no real guarantee it'll do anything to help.
