I have re-read that several times and I think that no software annoys you :) I think you are either Budhist or you have missed out an 'un' or my brain has stopped working (it could be any of those really!) :-D

But Graham Shanks most probably meant: "But if I uninstalled every application that annoyed me then my machine would be devoid of software" Hence

Yeah, it was becoming a way for some companies to support others, and some to make money (Java SE and the Google Toolbar[^])...may be that is the main reason some do not like the toolbar. :~ Best regards, Paul.

Jesus Christ is LOVE! Please tell somebody.

I've tried them briefly out of curiosity. Well, the former really. The latter just appeared on my Dad's PC - probably via BT Broadband or something - and sucks really badly! The Microsoft one I just found to be not much use - probably for similar reasons to yourself. Anyway, I mostly use Firefox rather than IE and there isn't an MS toolbar for Firefox is there? Not sure.

No worries, that's what happens when you get to our age! (Just read your bio, 30 years  ) I had to mention the missing 'un' because I got stuck in a kind of a 'mental loop' reading it. Every time I got to the end and I thought I understood it, my brain said, 'Unknown error - restart'! Fortunately the phone rang and snapped me out of it, or I could have been there till the end of the day! :-D

You could save time by uninstalling Windows first. :)

Paul, I've found that people either love or hate the Google Toolbar. Personally, I find it useful for similar reasons to yourself. All I do is state those reasons when asked. But if others don't care for them that's fine. The Google Toolbar is the only browser toolbar I've found useful though. Any others that appear from time to time I uninstall. (Though some of the reasons people state for not liking toolbars are strange.)

I've found the "IE Developers Toolbar" to be handy on occasion especially when debugging javascript when Items are nested in containers mangling names and testing different screen resolutions.

Ah, yes. I forgot about that. :-O Firefox is my default browser but when doing ASP.NET dev then I use both IE Dev Toolbar and Firebug.

I have plenty of reasons for wanting a toolbar personally but each to his own. However, from the OP's words there seems to be no reason why he needs it.

The only toolbar I use is the Del.icio.us toolbar. Even there, I turned off the toolbar itself and dragged the Bookmark button to my menu bar.

                      Cheers, Vikram.
