-
Hi, I'm an American Software Engineer. Currently I'm working overseas. I was thinking of returning home soon and was wondering if anyone can tell me what the job market is like. I was thinking of Atlanta but not 100% sure yet... It all looks like Doom gloom from over here !!! Is there any truth to it ?? Is it that bad ??? I mainly have experience in C#,ASP,Java,VB,Perl etc etc .. 7yrs experience ... Any comments would be apreciated .. Jon ...

DON'T DO IT!!!!!!! Job markets suck in the U.S. right now. Atlanta isn't doing too well (or really too bad) right now. Took my brother 9 months to get a new job but he doesn't have a degree and is getting up there in age. Tim Smith "Programmers are always surrounded by complexity; we can not avoid it... It's not hard for college grads to get entry level jobs here, but then again we're in the defense industry (kinda sheltered from the bubble burst). That is, until it's your turn.:) The last time the bubble burst in defense (1991-1993) was the last time I had a decent job. Load up your 401K - it's going to be all you have one day, and if history is any guide, the next downturn could be in as little as 5 years. Word of the day: Rotundacrat

If you have a job, I'd say stay there and keep it until the market turns around. The job market absolutely sucks right now. Jon Sagara Damnit Jim!
