godaddy is an absolute joke and a disaster. Not for uptime, just for general usefulness.

And you expect an honest response? I'd be willing to bet all of them will state their uptime is >99.9%.

I don't expect honesty whenever money is involved. I do expect that there will be some form of contract, and that there will be some performance-agreement. (That won't be possible at the take-it-or-leave-it shops on the i-net, I know) Something along the lines "we order 500 potatoes. You're responsible for delivering them on-time. If you fail to deliver, blablabla" :)

I have tried many shared hosts over the years. You are looking for something that does not exist (Reliable, shared hosting). If up-time is actually important, get a dedicated server with failover.

We currently host websites on ixwebhosting. While not ASP.Net, we are experiencing a lot of downtime when it comes to serving up ASP pages. HTML pages still work, ASP doesn't. Log another support call, they reset something and we are back on line again. No explanation ever given as to why this happens nor a fix so that it doesn't happen again. Our uptime is currently sitting between 80% and 90%. Mostly happens during the middle of the night (our time) so we don't notice the problem for a couple of hours. Cheers, Brett

I'm running something with CrystalTech, they're expensive, but frankly the worst issues I've had with them is the database crapping itself for about five minutes a week at random intervals(Which may well have been my fault, hasn't done it since I did some heavy performance tuning, but it also hasn't been a full week). Their support has gotten back to me generally within a half hour and with actual intelligent actions taken. I know the above because until google's spider decided to assault my site with crappy URLs I was hooked into every error which occurred on the site via email. Everything from a 404 to a transport error I got an email.

Thanks a lot for you reply. I understand that shared hosting cannot be 100% reliable and downtimes are the bitter truth. But I am searching for a host that is having lesser downtime. Currently i am hosting my sites in IXWebhosting. Can you suggest me a host with lesser downtime, currently i cannot afford dedicated server. The day i can afford dedicated hosting, i will shift my sites to RackSpace

I've been using DiscountASP.Net[^] for quite some time and have had no problems at all. Very reliable.

I couldn't agree more. I have found Hostek to have an absolutely fantasticly responsive customer service dept. And they provide a fair amount more bang for the buck than GoDaddy.

What I should have said is that IMHO, all shared providers are as bad as each other. Even if they offer 99.999% uptime, the penalties to them are too low (like max of 1 month for free). The main reason I now run dedicated servers is that when they break, I can fix them (or pay to have them fixed). With shared hosts, you have grumpy customers on one hand and a host saying "We are working on it" on the other. So no, I can't recommend one. :(

Apart from the Issue faced by you, i am also facing the another issue with DB. The data saved in the DB is a collection of Junk Chars. Are you facing this Issue too.
