Vista 64bit free firewall rec?
-
I'm setting up a new laptop running Vista 64 (Home) and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a free firewall, specifically to track outbound access. Thanks, /ravi

You can try Firewall Control[^]. It is not a firewall but an interactive shell around build-in firewall. Using this you can monitor both inbound and outbound connections. -Saurabh

You can't turn lead into gold, unless you've built yourself a nuclear plant.

I didn't think it alerted you when a program attempts to make an outbound connection (a la ZA). /ravi

Yes, it depends on the version. A basic edition should not do what you are looking for but vista ultimate accepts all sorts of configuration rules for incoming and outgoing traffic.

Comodo Firewall http://personalfirewall.comodo.com/[^] has a free version that works on vista 64. I use it on Vista home Premium 64 and it works well. The current version 3 seems to have a reasonable security reputation. Don
Thanks, Don. Cripes, I forgot all about Comodo! Will check them out. /ravi
