Do you use iTunes? or do you have a preferred replacement? iTunes is driving me up the walls.

Have you tried Songbird[^]? It's made by the same folks as Firefox.

iTunes - but I don't use Windows. When I did, I used to use Anapod Explorer by Red-Chair Software - tight Explorer integration, 2-way copying.

Java, Basic, who cares - it's all a bunch of tree-hugging hippy cr*p

The upgrade always asking if I want to install Safari is annoying, but I don't see much wrong with iTunes itself.

I think iTunes is great. What don't you like about it?

Visual Studio is an excellent GUIIDE.

Lack of 2-way sync. I have 6 computers at my home office, and sadly, I have music strewn about. Not to mention my wife's laptop that has a zillion songs.

This LifeHacker article[^] shows you how to share your iTunes library across multiple computers. I did it a few weeks ago and it's not a cure-all, but does eliminate some headaches. We have three iPods in the house with multiple user profiles for the kids and it was getting to be a nightmare managing the purchases. All neatly bundled into one shared library now.

Do you mean that you can't repeatedly copy tracks from one iPod to a number of different iTunes? I think that's by design...

I use iTunes on a single machine with a shared library. Whenever I import new songs on my laptop, I copy them to an import folder on my NAS (2 TB), then import into iTunes through remote desktop. There are apparently ways to set up iTunes on Windows Home Server, but the other software I run on my "file server" (read: old Dell desktop with 1 TB storage) doesn't work with WHS. I have way too many iPods, heh. Flynn

I use iTunes purely as a means to load up my iPod with music and movies, delete content from it, and upgrade its firmware. I run iTunes in manual (i.e. non-synched) mode and have disabled the Bonjour service. I mirror my iPod "library" on my hard disk, so don't care about synch. I use MediaMonkey and Album Art Downloader (open source) to keep my music collection tagged, and Handbrake to convert video content to MP4. Happy as a clam, love my iPod (Nano), and no problems with iTunes! /ravi
