What's with you guys and your hatred towards Linux? Did linux kill your children or something? Jees guys, grow up and use the tools that suit your needs. I bet some Linux programmers could write code circles around some of you any day.  I use both for development, and I'll tell something right now, there are times where I wish i was doing certain projects on/for linux clients/systems. I'm new here, pardon the n00bing

Hi, Joe. There's no hatred of Linux, at least on my part. In fact, my first professional gig ages ago was in QNX, a real time PC UNIX clone. Many is the day I worked in DOS and missed the horsepower of a good operating system. However, there's definately a pissing contest between Microsoft and Linux, given that MS is the huge, successful company people love to hate and the Linux camp is full of young, idealistic people who think that programming is all about art, money is evil and technology should be free. The reason I poke the Linux guys in the ribs here & there is because of that notion, hence my joke about them working for free. I'm a mercenary and as such have no brand loyalty. I don't care nearly as much about which operating system I'm working in as I do about my hourly rate! In general we're just having a little fun with it all. Try not to take it too seriously. The stress will only shave years off your life. :-D Chistopher Duncan Author - The Career Programmer: Guerilla Tactics for an Imperfect World (Apress)

By the way, and I'm speaking as a part-time linux user. I couldn't give a rats-bum (:-O) whether software or anything I wanted for my linux box was free or not. The whole point of linux is open-source, not free software. I understand a lot of people around here like to use linux is some situations, but those who don't need to show some respect for the other half of coders on this planet I'm new here, pardon the n00bing

Because most Linux zealots are too busy trying to figure the latest distro's "new and improved" directory structure to figure out how to type stupid foreign characters on their freakin keyboards (that is, if their keyboard works at all). ------- signature starts "...the staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - Jason Jystad, 10/26/2001 Please review the Legal Disclaimer in my bio. ------- signature ends
