I thought this was a nice thing to note if you've an interest in space travel. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/space/6170961/Scientists-unveil-plan-designed-to-cut-cost-of-space-travel.html[^]

I love how they take something we've known about since the sixties and pretend it's brand new.

My High School Fizziks teacher actually taught us about Warp field Theory and Stargate wormhole Theory, thing is, he was convinced that both concepts could work, if certain things were able to be brought into play, such as with Warp Field Theory, it would be possible if you could manipulate spacetime with ultra-powerful electromagnetic currents, and even said he could build a working prototype, only problem being that the fields that enabled said travel would rip a person to shreds, or at the very least scramble them rather well... -Kasterborus

The caveat is that these routes are slow as @#$()*&; using them to get to the *moon* takes months.

The theory isn't new, the ability to calculate the routes themselves is fairly recent (last few years).

The Stargate model would extremely hard to actually use, becuase you'd have to have an endpoint someplace first, with no FTL you're boned. I read a while back that they think a "Warp Field" would work by creating a bubble of local space time and moving that, which is probably excatly what your teacher was talking about, they didnt say how you could do such a thing, let alone do it safely. They did mention however that we have no way to genereate enough power to even consider doing something like that. I think we'll be stuck here until we master Fusion, or whatever comes after that.

Please remember to rate helpful or unhelpful answers, it lets us and people reading the forums know if our answers are any good.

Basically his idea of the Stargate model involved having 2...lets just use Stargates for the purposes of this discussion. Basically, you have 2 "Stargates" linked over the Internet, you want to go from one to the other, first you send a command to initialize each one, once each one is initialized, they will find each other on some subspace network or something and form a wormhole between themselves, then, once the wormhole has formed a radio transmission will be sent through the wormhole to make sure the connections is A) Secure and B) to the right "gate" and then you will be clear to step through. His idea was more for getting around Earth than traveling to other planets, but in theory, dump one on Mars and you could get people there and back very easily. -Kasterborus

traveling without moving ... I can suggest a few substances that will enable to cut the cost of spaced travel! :-O

Does anything move as we perceived. Movement is impossible if you consider there are an infinite number of points between any 2 points. Still frames? .. can we skip some? .. fold? ..
