What you want to ctrlz back through each item in an entire global replace, think about what it would be like if you wanted to actually reverse that replace action. If it did that THEN you should scream.

Many options, 1. Dont save the files 2. Undo pending changes from TFS Which is all a lot shorter than waiting for the app to compile and start up and wondering WTF did all my changes go??? :) Obviously compiling, screws up option 1 ...

Nice VS annoyance/bug! - Do a massive find/replace in files. - I notice 1 file that should not been affected. - Press Ctrl-Z in the editor for this file. - VS reverts entire find/replace.

Isn't there a splash screen that mumbles something about undo that appears just as you click OK on it? ;P Look on the bright side, redo the find & replace then revert the file. No tears, no pain.

Is that all? Try, turn on computer, BLUE SCREEN, CHECK DISK, whole day(s) about to be wasted...because the IT admins have to rebuild the box.

Isn't there a save before run option, or are you advanced way beyond F5 builds? :)

Nope, I'm still backwards in that regard. I like hitting the green play button :) F5 when I am lazy.

Yes, there is, and I specifically tell it to leave all modified files open, so I can modify them before being saved.

You think that's bad? I'm working with a new release of reference software for the embedded platform I'm working on and it does fun things to the flash file system like "Sector xxxx corrupted. Expect badness". At this point the contents of the /root folder disappeared.

'Expect badness'?!?! WTF is that good for? I would make it my mission in life to find the programmer responsible for that 'error message' (probably hiding in his mother's basement), and punish him.

You have a nice clear warning from VS about this when you start find/replace. So it’s your fault not a VS bug.
