Nope. Not in the least. I went to an MS launch event and got my free Weven Ultimate a few weeks ago. :-D :-O

They didn't hold a launch event in my town. They did for Vista, Office 2007, VS 2005 and VS 2008 and all were packed, so I don't understand the resistance.

How many of you are holding (perhaps secretly, so as not to embarrass yourself) a Windows 7 launch party? C'mon, I know you're out there. Somewhere. Secretly lusting after the goodness in Weven, and salivating at the thought of being able to foist its moist chewy goodness (like a cake!) on your unsuspecting friends!

Nope. Sounded pretty lame to me. I've done Linux install parties before, mind you - they're fun because you sit around with a bunch of geeks drinking and comparing hardware, and then everyone goes home with a fresh OS install... Not sure what MS expects us to do with a single copy of We7en... Pirate it? Show it off on one machine while trying to guess if it'll work on everyone else's hardware? Pirate it? Admire the "corporate psychedelia" posters? Pirate it? Lame.

  Your reply is inadvertently hilarious because "bacon" is an in joke amongst our friends that I can't even begin to describe in a kid sister friendly way on this message board. As for moose there's none around here unless they're in a zoo somewhere, you'd have to drive an hour, take a ferry for an hour then drive about 5 more hours to even get to a place where there's a possibility of seeing a moose. However I might be able to come up with something kinky that we can refer to as a "moose". ;)

Couple guys here at the office signed up and were selected to host a party. I know one of them already has 17 confirmed, and he plans on giving away his signed copy of W7. Oh, yea, in case you didn't know, if you're selected to Host a party, you get a personally signed copy of Windows 7 Ultimate by Ballmer. No. That's not a joke.

That's just surreal. It's an OS. Who the hell cares? 17 people? Who the hell goes to a party themed around an OS release, unless you're one of the creators of the OS? Oh well, I guess it's an excuse to drink other peoples' beer!

Yeah I saw that this morning, someone at work was talking about the new mouse they brought out yesterday. Looks pretty nice, hassle free, plug-in and go. Even the 21 inch is nice and costs about $100 *less* than the comparable model at Dell!

And yeah, the shiny new ultimate edition (actually signature edition - whatever it means) is waiting in the box. And this laptop is going to arrive in a week with "Free DOS"... I could use a license, ya know? :)

I've been waiting for an iMac update (the Mac fanbois and rumor sites have been predicting it for a few months). I don't update/upgrade home PCs very often - approx every 4-5 years so I may just go nuts and get the 27" quad. I think I'll stop by an Apple store to see the screen and Magic Mouse in action first.

Many, many years ago in a browser far, far away (NetScape) a friend of mine found an **ahem** interesting chat room. One evening one of the young ladies asked him if he was a SALMON. As he was telling me about this escapade, I immediately quipped "Ah", "Sad And Lonely Man On t'Net" (laughs all round), but it turned out that it referred to the practice of wrapping smoked salmon round a certain part of the male anatomy before ..... well, you know. :-O Why they though this was a good thing to do, I know not. Perhaps they were practising to become lesbians and were trying to acquire a taste for it. :-D

That's just surreal. It's an OS. Who the hell cares? 17 people? Who the hell goes to a party themed around an OS release, unless you're one of the creators of the OS? Oh well, I guess it's an excuse to drink other peoples' beer!

Yea, I would guess that's the real reason ... that ... and the free Windows stuff.

Here's what has me salivating at the moment: The new 27" quad core iMac.

The only part of that that's piqued my interest is that someone finally selling a panel with a resolution between 1920x1200 and 2560x1600; even if IMO 2304/1440 would have been a more logical slot to insert an in between size; or if 16:9 was an absolute requirement something around 2304/1296. NTM that as a company that supports content producers apple should be selling 16:10's. The reason PC widescreens were 16:10 at the same time that TV was going 16:9 was so that the video editor types could view stuff at full width and still have room for all their toolbars, etc on either side of the clip.
