Actually, that's not a bad idea. Mr Dootson mentioned fish as well. I normally whack the Salmon in some foil, bit of olive oil, some herbs, salt and pepper. Whang it in the oven, 20 minutes later out it pops, add some potatoes and veg. And the hollandaise sauce only makes it better! :thumbsup:

Not to mention salmon is cheaper than chicken in Norway. Maintaining a high-protein diet in Norway is expensive. I generally go through two dozen eggs a week and a few pounds of salman. Vegetables and bread are relatively inexpensive compared to meats... but I am a voracious carnivore. Best Wishes, -David Delaune

I still do. Just bought 2Kg of mince to turn into chilli in the slow cooker tomorrow. It takes the same time to make two portions! What we don't eat, I will freeze in 8oz bags and eat later.

I like it as deboned fillets pan fried with the skin on in a super hot pan so it's crispy skin but only about one second beyond raw in the very center so it's nice and crispy on the outside but creamy and soft on the inside. Mmmmm...! You're lack of cheap protein would drive me nuts living there.

Well it's definitely not overdone! I think it comes down to the fact that we have a really old crappy oven. I think Helen of Troy used to have the exact same one. Meh, but salmon is cheap out here (in comparison to most other stuff) so I tend to get a nice BIG chunk. Yummers!! :-D

Oh the LYRICS!! I wasn't paying attention (that's plainly obvious) I saw the guys eating something so was paying attention to the screen to see what they might have on the table. I could eat salmon every night for a year without getting bored of it. Luckily salmon is very plentiful here on the west coast of Canada. I've pickled it, smoked it (many times), grilled, broiled, roasted, used in pasta, pastry rolls, dried as jerky, raw in sushi you name it. Very versatile ingredient.

I don't do that more than once or occasionally twice. OTOH my last pot of ham soup was something like 3 gallons in size. So much for clearing out freezer space by using up all the frozen ham bones and juice. :doh: My next pot's probably going to be about as big. I thought i had 1 small bone in the freezer when I put the last one in with about 2.5-3lbs of meat still attached. A week later i reorganized the freezer and found I now had 3 containers with ham bones in them.

The latest nation. Procrastination.
