Our product is 1.7 times fatser than Java based product

I had a big laugh when I saw the performance benchmarks for Mac OSX Snow Leopard Server. One area was the mail server performance[^] and Apple claims that its mail server is 1.7 times[^] faster than Sun Java Messaging Server. Sure :), so if you want to market your product as being fast what is is better than comparing it with Java based product.

Well, they wanted a benchmark that would make them look good. And saying their mail server is infinitely faster that a rock doesn't impress anyone. :-D Sure, the rock isn't MUCH slower than the Java server, but people aren't as impressed by that comparison.

That is pretty sad. I wonder what they use though? Is it a completely home grown mail server? Or is it based on the sendmail abomination?

Their marketing people blew it. If you really want to impress the consumer, they should have said "our mail server is 10^6 times faster than the US Postal Service." Now that's impressive! Would certainly sell me! Marc

I run faster than a bodybuilder. I am stronger than a sprinter. I am smarter than a prairie dog, and cuter than a rocket scientest. I am a marketer and I can spin the world. LOL
