The Oath Keepers
-
Yeah, read about them before... A bunch of guys promising not to do things that they're already not allowed to do. Making a big deal about following the rules. Nothing wrong with their motivation, and they seem like decent enough folks, but I don't think this is newsworthy by any stretch.
Proud to have finally moved to the A-Ark. Which one are you in? Developer, Author (Guardians of Xen)
Katrina. Look what happened after Katrina, they did what they were not allowed to do, they didn't follow the rules because they were ordered to break the rules. They obviously weren't Oath Keepers.

Learn about how the Oath Keepers, a non-partisan association of currently serving military, reserves, National Guard, veterans, Peace Officers, and Fire Fighters, who have sworn to uphold the Constitution and not follow unlawful orders to oppress the American people. Part 1 of 2 (7:27)[^] Part 2 of 2 (8:02)[^]

Again, the 52nd Chairborne march proudly against their own paranoid imaginings. Oh how these valiant heroes struggle against the oppressive tyranny inflicted upon them by a reality that is not half as fractured as their tiny minds.
After reading some history, particularly some of the diary excerpts and letters from British troops and Americans, your comments remind of some of the stupid British. Yet after the war that we won, we rapidly developed into a powerful and wealthy industrial nation leading the way in scientific discoveries and new technology that your country could not achieve. Now we face a similar situation involving your type of mindset.

Ah, so you never read where I pointed out I am American a while back. But where does this have anything to do with pointing out this is little more than another blob of paranoid drivel. Now, I'm not sure about you, but I wouldn't have to do any swearing by or on anything to refuse to take such actions. Doing so seems to be a pointless exercise in claiming that you'd never, EVER, do any of those horrible things which you think the opposing political party is going to do to everyone despite being horrible. That sound stupid? Good, it was intended to. Because this crap is. This country advanced because of people actually doing things, not pledging they wouldn't do something.

You are not worthy of carrying the title of American, Idiot perhaps, but not American.

Probably the gun confiscation after people started shooting at the rescuers because they wanted to be picked up.
OK - I notice he didn't even reply. I didn't know about that, but I do wonder if these oathkeepers would have kept their oath if it meant getting shot at ?

So if you were in charge, he'd be kicked out ? Totalitarianism is OK if it follows your rules ?

Every purpose. I'm surprised you don't already know. Maybe you should look up "non-partisan".

Something you'll never make a contribution to. It's people like you that are putting the country in the crapper.
You measure democracy by the freedom it gives its dissidents, not the freedom it gives its assimilated conformists.

It was a rumor that some idiots shot at a rescue helicopter. If that story was true, then those idiots were criminal in their actions and should have either been shot or arrested. To use that as an excuse to go door to door and forcefully search occupied homes and confiscate the personal property of all citizens is illegal and unnecessary.

In political science, nonpartisan denotes an election, event or organization in which the participants do not declare or do not formally have a political party affiliation. Not partisan; free from party affiliation, bias, or designation.[1] Non-partisan democracy (also no-party democracy) is a system of representative government or organization such that universal and periodic elections take place without reference to political parties. Again, why would they want to be partisan? What purpose would that serve?

So, in other words, they should have done nothing ? Or, sitting in your armchair, NOT being shot at, you think you can second guess what these people should have done when both their lives and the lives of the people they were trying to rescue, were endangered ?
