The question is what came first? If it's being a Mac user, I'm getting one. If being high makes you become a Mac user, I might get one when I have more comparative evidence re the two paths I mention.

Yes. that was kind of my point. Heroin is addictive, too. Does that mean the heroin addicts are victims, or idiots ?

That depends if they were dumb enough to start on their own; or got hooked following a serious accident/illness when their doctor over prescribed painkillers.

Reading the article I understand why they denied the claim. I've fixed a machine used by a smoker. Grossest thing ever. Orange tar had jammed the CPU fan and fried the board. The environment killed the thing, not faulty design or components. It's like trying to operate it in the raid and expecting them to fix it when it fries. They could claim OSHA issues and be fine, but they should have just used the "you broke it through horrible environmental practices." as a line. Sorry, but when your machine is gross enough for them to tell when they open it that a smoker had it, you likely killed the machine. Tar on components, fans and lenses is pretty much one of the best ways to kill something.

My dad is retired and likes to sit at his computer and browse the web and chain smoke. I looked at his computer once and it was as gross and you described. It made me think, if his computer looks like that what do his lungs look like? :(

Mac users are smart. We don't smoke. Anyone smoking near a Mac is obviously a Windows spy.

The user does not have to be a smoker. To the extreme, the repair shop could argue that the unit was exposed in a smoking enviornment outside the home. On the other hand, the user could argue that the unit was exposed to the nicotine soaked clothes of the tech checking out the system in the shop

Excess use of pain killers can lead to an opiate addiction. Heroin is one form of it available on the street. It could as easily have been Oxycontin, or etc.
