I've read rumours of "iPad". I'm sure it'll sell in it's millions regardless of what it actually does. One thing's for sure, if it just ends up being a 10" iPhone for $1000 (which rumours are pointing towards) then it's total failsauce.

Apple fans don't care about trivia like battery life. It's shiny and has an apple logo on it, it needs no other feature set (except maybe a light that turns on so you know it's off ;-))
That's somewhat true. I have seen people who have switched 6 iPhones one after another broke. and still using iPhone. but they have to come up something for battery as far as this product will be iPhone*(Square). So they have to consider this issue from their previous product experience.

In all likelihood, the early adopters will pay that price. After a year the price will come down. :)

Frantic Steve Jobs Stays Up All Night Designing Apple Tablet[^] What is amazing about the Apple tablet is the accompanying hype. Some companies using resources to somehow find something about the tablet before the launch event. Regardless of how the product turns out to be the presentation, like any other Steve Jobs show, will be worth watching. Being more interested in marketing these days, I will definitely watch the presentation even though the Tablet concept is not that appealing to me.

Read a funny user comment on a forum about this: Buy stock in Tide (with bleach). There will be many pairs of Apple branded boxer shorts getting washed this week.

Or maybe, just maybe the onion is satire.

Well, I dunno about their newer stuff, but what made me an Apple fan was the quality of their machines. They were just put together better. Now, I also believe OSX is quality OS, but I haven't used their hardware lately. That being said, I still think they do OEM-type machinery much better than Dell, HP, etc. But, nothing is perfect; however, you'll find typically on a Mac things just work more times than not. That's why it's such a fuss when they don't - people get spoiled.

Yeah I gotta hand it to them. They're doing a much better job marketing these days IMO. Kinda makes you wonder how the tides would've turned had they done this since the get-go.

I'm sorry, Rama. On behalf of geeks everywhere, I'm going to have to show you the exit for this blantantly inconsiderate mention of a topic that sends even the most stalwart coders shieking into the confines of the darkest closet they can find. But don't worry. I know a shortcut, having been led there many times myself. :-D
