I do not have cancer I stood in tears tonight, all the tests proved negative. My wife is not understanding

You had a cancer scare, but it's come back negative ? That's great news, but still a hell of a thing to go through. How is your wife not understanding ?

I never told her until tonight. She went mad. I told her about being clear and she went mad. Her view was that I should have said, my view was that I should protect her.

OK - I can see why she'd wish that you'd have told her. Women like to communicate and emote, and feel like they have been included in such things. I am not knocking your decision, you did what seemed right to you, and I imagine that such a potential diagnosis is a private journey with no right answers. I also expect that she's partly reacting to the overall shock and finding a part of the situation that she feels justified in being mad at. I'm sure she will simmer down, given a chance to sleep on it. Either way, the news is good, so at least you have lots of time to talk about it :-)

Since you hid the tests from her (since you thought it's a good thing that she won't have to worry) you could have hidden the results too (since your not telling her has only caused her pain it seems).

I kind of get both views, my mom told us about her own cancer scare a couple of weeks ago, and we were grateful it was just a scare, but we were mad she didn’t told us sooner, only my dad knew and they spend the holydays scared out of their minds, maybe we could have been of some help in dealing with it, but a mom is always trying to protect her sons, even when her sons are both in their (early) 40s, but latter I realized I would have done exactly the same to shield my family from the grief.

A month ago my great grandmother passed away. She was 105 years old and suddenly she was diagnosed with lots of problems, including one related to the lungs, which eventually lead to her death. She didn't noticed her sons (the eldest being my grandfather) because she didn't want to disturb them, even when they are 84 and 82 years old. I guess a mom's job never ends... Best wishes to you and your parents.

That's great news you complete and utter twat. I don't blame your wife one bit: keeping secrets, for whatever reason, is a recipe for disaster. Plus, she's your wife: you really have no right to hold back such potentially life changing information. Still, glad you're okay; now grovel.

That's great news you complete and utter twat. I don't blame your wife one bit: keeping secrets, for whatever reason, is a recipe for disaster. Plus, she's your wife: you really have no right to hold back such potentially life changing information. Still, glad you're okay; now grovel.

You've got it in perspective! Yes, I would want my kid sister to see that message.
