ok ... im keeping this in whispers so no-one else has to hear ... do u own and wear an anorak? do u find urself on train station platforms with a notepad and pencil writing down train numbers? do u always ruin other peoples jokes by questioning the inconsistent logic in most?

Just for kicks, I'm going to say you've just created Frave. Part of what made Frank, Frank, was the body he was in. that was his point of reference, the electronics worked a certain way. Dave, well his primary defining feature (presumably his brain) is gone, so calling him Dave is out of the question, IMO. Frave, however, will have Frank's knowledge, but use it quite differently than Frank ever did, because of completely different I/O. Since we've now astablish they have a different I/O, lets just hope we have the drivers to support the new GUI, otherwise something ain't going to work right. I mean Christ, this Frave i've created is going to be walking down the street with his arm's and head spinning around, and talking backwards because of me. :-O This is for you Frave. !!!!taerg ruoy kniht I --- Peter M

Nope, I’ve never worn a anorak. I drive my car to work, and use trains very rarely. I've never written down a train number, never even knew they have one to be honest. I don't intend to ruin other people’s jokes, but in your case I’ve obviously made an exception ;-) Aren't you lucky!!!!!! Now run along and whisper to someone else. ;P --- Peter M

It reminds me more of Virtual Sexuality, that was shown on Channel Four (yes Paul you did hear me correctly ;)) last night. Look it up in you local video store - it was a good, pleasantly unpredictable and very very funny film.

A hypothetical question, about two hypothetical persons called Dave and Frank Frank dies in a tragic accident involving nothing more than a paperclip and a candle, and is ready to be used as a donor. Dave has a heart attack and need a new heart. If Dave has a heart transplant which is taken from the donor Frank, he is still Dave, although he has a new heart. Poor old Dave need a brain transplant now, please don't ask why, cos i don't know. If Dave has a brain transplant, is he still Dave? Or is it now Frank in Dave's body? I guess this question asks if we are just defined as just the brain. Of course everyone would look at Dave and think it him, but really it would be Frank. Or am i wrong?? I think this is quite interesting, but then again, 'I like blinking I do ' (British Joke) :-D --- Peter M

heart transplant: Mostly Dave, although everyone who knows him knows he changed brain transplant: neither-nor, but closer to frank I guess.

The process of a heart transplant changes people, not the heart itself. Sure, there might be some slight chemical changes. But those changes are far overshadowed by the trauma of the process. Anything beyond that is romantic or spiritual BS. Now the brain is a totally different subject. Other than the chemical influences our body has on the brain, it is the creator of us. Move the brain, you move the person. Tim Smith I'm going to patent thought. I have yet to see any prior art.

You are your brain, and your brain is you; the rest is just support.

I guess this question asks if we are just defined as just the brain. Of course everyone would look at Dave and think it him, but really it would be Frank. Or am i wrong?? I think this is quite interesting, but then again, 'I like blinking I do ' (British Joke) :-D --- Peter M

"Time Enough for Love" - I've got a copy here somewhere. I'll type it into the Lounge one night when I have nothing to do:-) "Another day done; all targets met; all systems fully operational; all customers satisfied; all staff keen and well motivated; all pigs fed and ready to fly." - Jennie Agard, McGuckin Hardware Systems Manager
