What is the language of the words (or abbreviations) you have written? An what context are you talking about?

OK, I see. So you should first think about which development language/environment you are targeting (C#, C++, Java, Web, Windows, Linux, Mac, you name it) and then post in the apropriate CodeProject forum.

Paper, pencil and thought. This is not being flippant, no mater how good the code tool is, you must design properly first.

I couldn't agree more. Nor, frankly, do I think most programmers have the temperament, skills, or training needed to design a UI.

Mister Big has it right again, but I would say there are two different (slightly overlapping) sides to UI-design. One is the the layout-conceptual-usability side. Where to put the "Execute"-button, what functions to hide under menues/sub-menues. Etc, Etc. Somthing for a talented/inclined programmer, or a usability expert. The other is the graphic-design part. What colour-schemes to use, how to make the the buttons look sweet and shiny. That is very much a job for an Art Director/Graphic Designer. And this does not answer the question at hand at all, but whatever...

            ........................ Life is too shor

A large whiteboard is my favourite.

My postings are a natural product. The slight variations in spelling and grammar enhance their individual character and beauty and are in no way to be considered flaws or defects.

I have to agree with this. I do most of my web design in raw HTML and CSS (why send 10k of code for 500 bytes of layout?), and a pencil, eraser and a few sheets of graph paper are all the UI tools I need. For app programming, I've found the Visual Studio IDE to be perfectly adequate.

In the Navy, and most other arms of the military, if there is a simple substitution that can change something into a curse, it invariably happens. If you live around that gray for a while, you either come to love it or hate it, or both
