Dude, It's high time you considered a trip to India. I know a particularly powerful witch doctor who may be able to help you out... Just don't go back and post "Why I hate witch doctors today"

It's actually not possible. And even then, I don't see how they can make their software work if I can't.

At least it _REALLY_shows that it's not your problem but theirs, if the cannot render the service that you paid for according to the contract you both signed, then you could sue them. Or go to the media. There is probably a few "consumer rights" shows or newspaper that could use a couple of nice stories to help you resolve all of this.

          Watched code never compiles.

Most modems are made for consumption in the U.S. market. Because of this they are manufactured to run right-side up in the Northern Hemisphere face-first. Turn your modem upside down and rotate horizontally 180 degrees and it will work as expected.

That's how he broke one the other day...hanging it from the power cord just didn't work. :)

My new modem comes with new software. The Mac version LOOKS connected, but after a brief amount of time, it will in fact stop receiving any data, will not recognise the modem if I unplug and reconnect, and basically will be useless until I reboot. If I call support, they won't offer meaningful support to the Mac version, I doubt they even have seen a Mac in real life.

Hey, it could be worse. When my daughter was three, I had to sing the following before she would go to bed: 4 complete repetitions of the 'Barney' theme song, followed by 4 complete repetitions of 'Itsy-Bitsy Spider'. You have no idea of what hell is like, until you're on the second verse of iteration 2 of the 'Barney' theme song after a day spent with a whining QA bonehead, you now have a migraine, you're trying to skip a verse, and your daughter catches you at it.

Actually we are all quite thankful that you are around here to

                          • Reimind us that the rest of us actually have quite a good life
                          • Getting more than your fair share of abuse, so the rest of us can rest easy
                          • Reminding us continually how smart we are for getting all our sh*t to work without problems

So thanks for doing all that!

And I did that joke last year regarding Windows expecting the bits in your boot sector to be in the Northern Hemisphere orientation, but found them in the Southern Hemisphere orientation instead. It's an old joke and I think you'll keep hearing it.

Don't blame me. I voted for Chuck Norris.

It's truly is amazing how they do this. My son with eyes closed (apparently asleep) would suddenly spring to life afer catching me skipping a page of a story.
