Spelt is the past participal of Spell as in letters of a word. If it was the pp of to cast a spell it would have been Spelled, or, in the terrible Americanism of to take a turn at a duty, as in "I spelled him for half an hour" (utterly repugnent). Honestly the way the Americans maltreat the English language they ought to have it confiscated!

True or not they will win and we will all speak Amglish eventually. We're already forced to use it when programming; 'color', etc. And the proliferation of US TV (their production values are no wfar superior to ours) means that many people around the world that speak English do so the American way. It is merely language evolution.

My God! Did Denzel win because he was black or because he was a bloody good actor? Did Speilberg win because he was Jewish or he was a good director? Did Hanks win because he was a retard or a bloody good actor? continue ad nauseum...

I was pretty sure, as with all the -ed vs -t words (dreamt, dealt, smelt, etc) that either is considered acceptable in British English. Cambridge says so, anyway[^] But of course it's totally irregular. She screamt when she realist he'd creamt off all her favourite chocolates. i consider myself an American, having lived here all 39 of my years (and having citizenship, the accent, the passport, etc), and i have never heard anyone use that, not even in fiction.

Nope I thought Inglorious bastards was an awful film . It had one good scene where the jew hunter was in the cabin . Apart from that it was complete and utter rubbish . Tarantino is vastly over rated . Some films have superb dialog , but mostly he is just over-hyped.

Where he walks in on the French family hiding the jewish refugees under the floor? Yeah, that one was good, but if I have the wrong cabin scene, I don't know which one you're talking about. The bar scene was pretty good too.

Enzo G. Castellari's "Quel maledetto treno blindato" (1978) was titled in English as Inglorius Bastards. I thought there might be some confusion.

DONE! GO watch the Blues Brothers. Pay attention to the Clerk's office when they pay off the debt.
