Yeah, you need to cull the students every now and then so they don't get out of hand.

Or maybe somebody saw that "teh" downvoted their post so they downvoted all the other posts so everybody would assume "teh" downvoted them and cause them to upvote all the replies to "teh"'s post, thereby balancing out the 1-vote they recieved. I find it best to just accept 1-votes and not try to guess who made them.

Quite possible. I only said what I thought it was. :)

Scrolling down the front page of the Lounge, looks like there has been a univoter attack.....who is the culprit this time? That is the CP equivalent of the youTube "FAKE!" comment, or the user feedback comments of "1st" etc. I've got my stopwatch ready for when i hit Post Message!

This is one example of why I disagree with the mutilation of children. If you wish to have parts of your body hacked off by butchers, go ahead, but to do this to a child is abuse, not religious observance. /rant

Do you count (successful) circumcision as mutilation?

Yes. Who has the right to mutilate a child? In law that child ought to be protected, simply because one has a religion that says child genital mutilation is acceptable does not make it so. There is a word for men who go around touching childrens genitals and then causing physical distress.

I can see ethical reasons for and against it. I'm guessing we'll be moving closer and closer to the Borg as the decades and centuries go on. We already have circumcision, breast implants, replacement limbs, and so on... I'm sure they will start implanting tiny cell phones, then vision improvement devices, perhaps memory enhancers, and so on until we end up linking up to a collective to increase processing power of the hive mind. That's not something I want to see (but maybe I'll learn to love it). Thing is, there are ethical arguments on either side. What do you do when you can't wait until the child is older for them to make the decision themselves? I think it should be the parent's decision when it can't be the child's. But it's getting late and that topic is way too big for me to get into tonight.

There's a very strong religious aspect to this: God wanted my eyes to be protected, so he gave me eyelids. He who cuts them off is defying the will of God.
