E71x Fail

Problem: Phone stops connecting to the Internet, Receiving and Sending Emails, Txt Messages and Phone calls several times a day Solution From Att: Restart your phone, your phone should be restarted at least once a day. Fail. Why can't I just get a phone that makes phone calls, does txt messaging, and sends/receives emails using POP and SMTP? (Screw push technology). I am almost ready to get a non-internet phone, I am tired of buying new phones and having them all fail in the exact same category.

Just out of curiosity is this specific to a particular type of phone, or do they all act weird? My knee jerk reaction would of course be to blame AT&T for having a crap network, but I don't know if that makes sense here.

All phones I own, however, I imagine it to be a combination of software fails and not network fails since restarting always works every time.

I've had several Nokias, they've either been clunky to use or have been unreliable in the way you describe. All Sony Ericsson phones I've had were pretty good.

I've been using them for a while. They seem to run into problems too sometimes...

I used a E71x for several months with no issues, except that Nokia's Mail for Exchange wasn't the greatest. I replaced MFE with Roadsync and all worked GREAT. I would still be using it if I did not accidently leave it at a truck stop in Texas. I am sure that you already tried this, but try upgrading the OS to the latest version. I replaced the lost E71x with an unlocked E71. The E71 is well worth the price. I have had no issues with it.
Go Beavs!!!

Honestly. It's the honest ones you want to watch out for...What kinds of problems? I've had two (alright, not alot) SE's through 4 years and I haven't experienced any serious problems with them. The only problem is that they all seem to have a tendency to be a bit slow.

My older SE phone used to hang once in a way. Not even pushing the restart button would work. The only way to fix this was to take out the battery and then put it in again. I spoke to the service department and they suggested I would need to flash it. Then the joy stick went bad and there was no point in flashing it anyway.

Honestly. It's the honest ones you want to watch out for...When thinking again, I seem to recall having the same problem with my old SE hanging sometimes, where I also had to take out the battery in order to get it running again. My new SE haven't had any problems like this yet, which is really fortunate as the cover is a b@$t4rd to get off - it was much easier on the older model where you could just slide the cover off.
