This may well be a repost, but if so it's so old it deserves reposting. With all the license plate posts flying around, I give you my favourite (by FAR): License Plate[^] //L [edit] http://blog.chriss-baumann.de/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/feature-not-a-bug.jpg[^] Thanks a bunch for all the 1's. Feel free to assume I put an offensive word here to express my gratitude: [/edit] [edit2]

wahahahaha, good one, I think I will need to start telling the vendors to include the legend for "not a bug, it's a feature" in their ultra buggy software, you got a 5 for the good laugh

Based on what Piebald consult[^] reported below about the reload image trick working (I'd forgotten about this) it appears that it's using an simple IP based hotlink detection system and only serving the penalty image for IPs that haven't made any other requests within [timeout]. If that's the case as long as all your test systems have the same public IP and don't hit the timeout you will never see the anti-hotlinking image. Except that while the reload trick might've worked for him it's not working for me which makes me suspect the anti-hotlink checker is just buggy and not triggering for some people. None of which changes the fact that the link you gave isn't work out of the box for a large fraction of people here. If instead of getting belligerent you would have changed your link to point to the page the image came from (which was a single remove-frame click away from google image search) you wouldn't've gotten as much flaming.

That would be a nifty trick - as I reported earlier I've tested with 9 clients in 3 countries.

Well, if that's all it takes, I've posted my last link in here. Wouldn't want to offend people. And I did in fact "change" the link after the second person said it didn't work. Other than that - I've spoken my piece about what I think of this, and consider myself done and disappointed. //L

Firstly I find it unlikely that you know my mom, and as such you would be unable to state with any kind of certainty that I've cried to her about this or anything else. Secondly I do not downvote people as a joke, I do that if their post is moronic and/or offensive. I would have thought that to be the rational approach, and as such I do not see how my OP qualifies. But I am sure you can tell me. Thirdly I haven't cried to my mom, your mom, or the postman for that matter. I have stated I think this is ridiculous behaviour. Fourthly, if you wish to continue this exchange I welcome you to the Back Room. I cannot use the adjectives and nouns I'd like in here. //L

You've really got one on haven't you? As I said pick your bottom lip up off the ground and try acting like an adult instead of a pretentious little prick. Laugh a little!

I laugh a lot. Right now, for instance, of you. My bottom lip is fine where it is, thank you. And how about you look up the following phrases: "practice what you preach" and "it takes one to know one". //L

I understand that. I just couldn't be arsed to provide another link, considering the crowd I'd be catering to. I'm done with that. If you're curious I am confident it will take you less than ten seconds to find the picture. //L

Didn't visit the page even originally, did a google image search to find it, copied URL and opened in a new browser. After all the drama here I have tested it on 9 clients, ranging from XP SP2 to Weven, in three countries. All clients have a minimum of four web browsers (IE/FF/Opera/Chrome). It worked fine on ALL of them. Also, several other users reported it working fine. I suppose I deserved all the 1's since all the machines I tested from are located on the same continent. Lazy me. I have an opinion of the univoters that voting 1 would be a too generous action to describe. //L [edit] You have got to be kidding me. Immature tossers. And yes, I consider that KSS. Now go buy an "Internet for Dummies" book and be done with it. [/edit]

And what do you think your browser did to show you the image in google search ?

Let's assume for a second that I've done a site rip and have all the files stored locally too. That still doesn't explain how it worked for others, nor what I mentioned here: http://www.codeproject.com/Messages/3414700/Re-License-Plate-sharp2-modified.aspx No more links for me.
