Yeah, our house lights were turned off. We were returning from a trip to some parks and hiking all day. I'm guessing that we burned more in gasoline than we would have in lights, though. That's just one reason these efforts are meaningless.

Most of the computers were on, and I was burning carbon in the car, about as fast as I could. My wife turns off lights around the house, but only by happenstance would they have been out at 2030hrs. I used to worry about it more, but now that it is doctrine, I rebel against it.

I thought it was bullshit. There were numerous gigantic holdings on the road sides with plenty of lights to illuminate it all night. And it was on since about a week or so. Courtesy of local politicians who "care" about the environment; thanks to them. Not to mention the annoying newspaper and magazine ads for many consequent days.

I was sitting on the couch watching telly with the Mrs. About 8:30 I said to her "I think it's earth hour", she grunted and turned the volume up while I looked at all the lights on and felt a twinge of guilt. What can I say? I tried.

If there was some award for saving electricity, TamilNadu would have won it a long time ago. Except for Chennai, no other place has 24 hours of uninterrupted power; 2 hours of load shedding in cities and 4 in villages for the past year atleast. And to think that we're yet to hit peak summer :(

All the lights I could have turned off are LED, so if I had it would have saved a grand total of about 10 or 12 watts (the small bulbs are 1 watt, the big ones are 2.5). We were out, so the lights were off anyway. Cheers, Drew.

I turned on all of the burners of the electric stove, the oven, the dryer, all the lights, I lit a fire, and started the car.

I wonder how many people on CP know who Fred Dagg is?

Whazzat? If, according to the posts, it was between 20:30 and 21:30, then I was at a party with a bunch of hippies... Actually, today was the last day of the local Renaissance Festival and it was the cast party. Very similar to Burning Man anyway. You might find coverage of the fire we had this morning somewhere.
