Most of the computers were on, and I was burning carbon in the car, about as fast as I could. My wife turns off lights around the house, but only by happenstance would they have been out at 2030hrs. I used to worry about it more, but now that it is doctrine, I rebel against it.

I thought it was bullshit. There were numerous gigantic holdings on the road sides with plenty of lights to illuminate it all night. And it was on since about a week or so. Courtesy of local politicians who "care" about the environment; thanks to them. Not to mention the annoying newspaper and magazine ads for many consequent days.

If there was some award for saving electricity, TamilNadu would have won it a long time ago. Except for Chennai, no other place has 24 hours of uninterrupted power; 2 hours of load shedding in cities and 4 in villages for the past year atleast. And to think that we're yet to hit peak summer :(

I turned on all of the burners of the electric stove, the oven, the dryer, all the lights, I lit a fire, and started the car.

For some reason, all of the lights in my house were just a little bit brighter between 8:30 pm and 9:30 pm last night

My house is powered by solar and battery back-ups. So, there was no point.

A shame! You should have stayed back after lighting the fire. :)

We had a power cut. There were no lights. :)
Me, I'm dishonest. And a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest.
Honestly. It's the honest ones you want to watch out for...So, you didn't have much of an option, did you?

No. The local power station was making their contribution to "Earth Day".

Honestly. It's the honest ones you want to watch out for...It might appear that our powergrids are obsessed with celebrating Earth Days? How about "Earth Month"? :)

Whazzat? If, according to the posts, it was between 20:30 and 21:30, then I was at a party with a bunch of hippies... Actually, today was the last day of the local Renaissance Festival and it was the cast party. Very similar to Burning Man anyway. You might find coverage of the fire we had this morning somewhere.
