Yes. Read a Physics book. Google it. Check on Wikipedia. No resource that knows anything about Physics will tell you that convection is about transferring heat from one material to another. It is about the movement of heat through fluids. If a fluid comes into contact with another material, it can transfer heat to that other material through conduction. This is uber-basic Physics, at a low enough level that even someone who's all mouth and trousers should be able to pick it up. If that's too high a level for you, then I give in.

That's conduction. Convection needs a fluid.

You are correct. But, not being a physicist it's all the same to me, so please excuse my misnomer, if you please. In any case, I think the basic idea got across. (Except to certain fat-heads, of course.)

Well, he his correct. Convection heaters transfer heat through the air (a gas, which is a subset of fluids). See here: Convection is the movement of molecules within fluids (i.e. liquids, gases and rheids). It cannot take place in solids, since neither bulk current flows or significant diffusion can take place in solids.[^]

No shit. You really dont get it do you. Just go back up the thread and look for where Mark intnetionall takes test out of context in a desire to criticise and appear superior to someone. In fact, why not also just search this forum for more evidence. Then, if you really want a laugh, go look at his website. It really is quite ammusing. For the 'wrong' reasons.

In which case your aparent statement is wrong. Like I said. The dick wanted to belittle you because he is a dick. And he intentionally took what you wrote out of context to do so. It would cause it to heat up. A lot. In fact it wold probably BSOD with that very rare BSOD error to do with overheating that I can never remember. Either that or catch fire. Especially if its a laptop.

Indeed, the BSOD usually functions correct for me... screws me over completely at a very inopportune moment. It erroring and, say, helping me would be a rare event indeed.

I must say that I don't believe I have ever seen such a spurious and ridiculous claim of something being taken out of context. "(transfer of heat from one material to another)" was given as a definition of "convection". The overarching context makes no difference whatsoever to that, so was not needed in the quoted text. Should I quote the entire web page? All of CP? Copy and paste the Internet into my reply? So not only don't you know anything about Physics, but you appear to have difficulty with basic reading, writing, and reporting. Have you considered taking up boxing? Your thick skull might come in handy for that. Just so you know: Convection heaters warm a room by causing warm air currents -- i.e. they are designed to use only convection (transfer of heat through a fluid), rather than the radiation/convection combination of other room heaters. That's why they're called convection heaters. Again, had you even Googled or visited WiKipedia before opening the fat_mouth, you would have discovered this, and avoided the embarrassment of your comments about convection heaters. The only conduction heaters are things like soldering irons. And the only belittlement going on in this thread is: - You, jumping up and down like a naughty boy and impotently calling people names. - Me, basically telling you to shut up. No-one has belittled Ahmed -- except perhaps you, by deciding that he can't tell people to bugger off for himself if he doesn't want the information offered. Telling a non-native-English speaker he's used the wrong word is not belittling in any way. I speak two and two-thirds languages, and know that being corrected by native speakers is one of the best ways to learn new words and usages.

No problem. I doubt for a moment that anyone misunderstood your meaning. As for the other guy, I think he must enjoy unpleasant discussions, because he seems to cause a great many of them.
