Hey! I develop web "sites" (sort of), I just don't use any JS in the pages :)

It seems as if every website I go to, including the some which have just "coming soon" or "under construction" pages, use jQuery is some capacity. Yes, as a web developer I do like to see the source of a web site. I am really surprised at the amazing success of jQuery. I did think that it is a good tool and it will be somewhat popular but I had no idea that it will be popular to this extent.

You need to read better. He wasn't saying JQuery isn't good, quite the opposite. JQuery actually is quite good and the best of the cross-browser javascript libraries out there.

My mistake, I wanted to say it did not give me the right level of control, because of it's fundamentally descriptive nature, which clashes with my inclination to know and control all the steps. I agree, it was a lazy answer :((

How convenient! Well, then no need to use JQuery or any other Javascript library.

It rocks. We are using it in anger for some projects and the developers are always smiling. The UI extension is pretty damn useful too.

I can't imagine writing our web apps without it, its been a godsend. No javascript is fun and all, but when you look to create a compelling UI, it's all you have really. Now if only someone could solve cross-browser CSS and HTML layout issues in the same sort of way :(( that's a bloody nightmare to deal with, and it WILL make you cry if you get into complex layouts.

I don't use jQuery; I use MooTools. http://jqueryvsmootools.com/ is a pretty good overview and says a lot of the reasons why I like MooTools better :) jQuery is just focused on the DOM (and some AJAX), it's not useful for anything else. MooTools focuses on making JavaScript in general nice.

It's a Javascript framework that eases animation, ajax, all those kinds of things. I prefer it greatly over normal Javascript. It's also great for crossbrowser, and is easily extensible. It's got NOTHING to do with SQL. http://jquery.com/[^]

Nope. All you need to know is to use <font> liberally, or you can just skip that and do it up in Word.

I just never got into dynamic web development... Maybe I'm just getting old, but when I make a website, I want it to just sit there, not keep talking to the server even when the user isn't there.

Proud to have finally moved to the A-Ark. Which one are you in?
