Yep. At least I didn't ask her to apologize for opening it. :)

Sounds so very familiar. My wife opened some packages addressed to me a while back, because she wanted to know what I was buying. Apparently you can't trust us techy types to not buy expensive stuff all the time. A few short arguments later (some very quiet evenings allowing me to play more of the games I had been buying) and now she won't open a single thing addressed to me, even if I tell her it's a gift for her she can open! If your wife hasn't tried the Kindle yet, maybe take it back, wrap it nicely with some flowers and "surprise" her on Mothers day. Once she's started reading the Kindle she won't put it down. I do advise making sure you repoint it to her account though, otherwise every book she buys you'll get an email about, and that's an opening for the "Why did you go crazy buying books 10 in one day?!?!". Money, the great argument causer. Having read the other posts, I see she already likes it. Good for you! Although, apologizing for her opening your mail :(

Yes, she already tried it and seems to like it. Money is the great agrument causer...she also already asked how much was it, which of course I didn't really tell her. :) She's actually very good about not spending so I'm not too worried about her buying a lot of books.

Wait a minute. YOU apologized for getting her a great mother's day gift and asking her, quite legitimately, why she opened something addressed to you (does she not trust you???), and YOUR the one apologizing. Women! X| And yes, I'm familiar with the "design pattern" myself, and frankly, at this point, I have no tolerance for this level of BS. It's actually amazing the improvement that occurs in my life and in my relationships when my gf realizes, gee, maybe she's the one with a problem, not me. :-D Marc

Ordered an Amazon Kindle for my wife for Mother's Day. According to Amazon it was to ship FedEx 2-day, so it would have on Saturday (ordered it yesterday), which would have been perfect because then I could have hidden it before my wife saw it. Of course, FedEx shipped it priority overnight, so it arrived today allowing my wife to see it, open it, and completely ruin any chance of surprising her with it. Now since I asked her why she opened it in the first place (it was addressed to me), she's upset and is saying she doesn't want it. :^)

Anything delivered to the house is free to be opened by the first person that sees it (unless its during Christmas). Amazon is notorious for delivering stuff a little faster than they promise, especially if the order is fulfilled by Amazon. Damage is done, but you should have just rolled with it. So what, she got it a bit early...

She hasn't gotten anything really nice in a while (money has been too tight) so this would have been a nice surprise.
