Why am I not surprised

I was told a funny joke yesterday by my girlfriend, yes my girlfriend!!! (But that is not the joke!) I considered posting it in the Lounge, but thought better of it. As I have no wish to offend others. So I placed it in the SoapBox 2.0, but I was not surprised, when I got a response like this[^] Is this ironic? or is it just me?

I gave this a 5 just because of the mental picture of a hand with eyeballs painted on it going to a restaurant and it getting flowers with a shocked "o" face.
If I have accidentally said something witty, smart, or correct, it is purely by mistake and I apologize for it.

In her defence they are "blokey" programs. And when she sees your comment, your a dead man!!! :-D
It takes a lot more than that to trigger her 'kill mode'. 15 years of offshore type sarcasm, comments etc. have desensitised her. Even crawling in at 5am from the casino doesn't provoke a reaction any more. I don't even know what time i got home last night from a night out, the only comment this morning was 'day of recovery is it?'

You told a joke whose sole purpose was to insult immigrants, and an immigrant found it offensive. I'm not sure why the math is difficult for you to work out on this one but hey, you're welcome to borrow my calculator if it will help.

I'm not saying that you should restrict your jokes, only that you look quite silly when you're surprised that the object of your ridicule finds it offensive. If you'd told a joke to insult Catholic priests and one of them found it offensive, I wouldn't care one way or another about their voice, but I'd certainly poke you in the ribs if you expressed amazement that they did. And I think history will show quite clearly that I have no sense of humor whatsoever. None at all. ;P [edit] The 1 wasn't from me. I'd rather poke fun at you in public. :) [/edit]
