-
Just got this email with an attachment in my inbox: Hello! You have received an iTunes Gift Certificate in the amount of $50.00 You can find your certificate code in attachment below. Then you need to open iTunes. Once you verify your account, $50.00 will be credited to your account, so you can start buying music, games, video right away. iTunes Store. How dumb do they think people are??? Although I have never, will never & will die before I use iTunes!!! P.S. Does anyone have Christian Graus's email??? :-D

Alan, I'm curious - what about the iTunes app do you find troublesome? (I find it very convenient to manage the contents of my iPod.)

I take it you're aware that this scam has nothing to with Apple? /ravi

I hate the fact that Apple FORCE you to use their software, buy through their $hitty shop & rob you blind for the privilege... I've nothing against the tech, its good gear! - I just dislike the company ethos of limiting the flexibility... And yes I know Apple have nothing to do with the scam... :doh:

Actually there are several free[^] iTunes alternatives. Although I use iTunes, I've found no need to visit Apple's online store. Anyway, I was just curious as to the reason of your dislike for iTunes. /ravi

#1: At a time when just about everyone was making subscription based music available, Apple let you BUY your music. ++ #2: When pressured by the music industry (who currently make satan afraid to let them in because they might sue him) to change pricing, Apple told them to piss off. It still had DRM, but at least it was cheap. ++ #3: iTunes also allowed you to rip your CDs and you could use several formats to do it. ++ #4: Apple finally started allowing DRM free music, but it cost more and you now had the evil of the RIAA's variable pricing show up. Apple has been keeping records of the slaes, and so far it appears that the sales on their expensive music has dropped significantly. -- #5: You don't risk losing jack if you use a different PC to upload/download stuff. You have a license for 3 machines if you use the DRM stuff and the non-DRM is just like standard MP3s. Even with the DRM, it is very easy to move tunes around, I have 3 machines with nearly identical music on them, some from iTunes. ++ #6: Windows explorer can't make playlists, it sucks at basic music management which is what iTunes was originally. ++ #7: I used Musicmatch when the iPod was first available on the PC. You have any idea how horrible that software was? iTunes fixed a lot of problems most of the music management software programs out there had. When iTunes first came out, it was not the only program that worked with the iPod. It just blew them all away with its ease of use and UI. ++ #8: iTunes has become your 1 stop shop for movies, music, tv, etc... And has become far too bloated because of it. -- #9: iTunes can stream the audio to other machines on your network, making more than 1 machine with the Gigs and gigs of music unecessary. Have 1 drive with them backed up and you are fairly safe. ++ #10: They need to split off the podcast/tv/movie/app stuff and make iTunes be just about tunes. Make the rest a different program. and let iTunes be a quick, small, streamlined music player like it was years ago. -- I see 3 negatives in this. All three are significant. But considering the rest, the hate is a bit misplaced.
If I have accidentally said something witty, smart, or correct, it is purely by mistake and I apologize for it.

Jobs thinks the concept of a file system is to much for the average iUser.
3x12=36 2x12=24 1x12=12 0x12=18
Have you worked with the average user? I have gotten calls saying "I sent an e-mail about the e-mail not working, but no one responded." Give a user a ui that makes it so a monkey can figure out how to do something and you will make the masses happy.

no, but my annoyance at Apple is rational and makes sense, you were spouting off nonsense as if it was fact. Your retort to my points was what...oh asking if I was gay. If you want to plug in, copy, and play, iTunes can easily do that. I've done it plenty. If that comment was meant as a mocking of all the extra crap that has been bundled with iTunes, go back and reread what I typed. I dislike it so much I made it TWO negatives. It's so bad that it deserves to be counted twice. I am completely in agreement there. iTunes was better when it was less than half the current size and all it did was music and iPod management. The prgram was snappy, simple, and effective. It still has the effective quality, but simple is not there anymore and it stopped being snappy on Windows a while back. If you pay for music on iTunes, you can burn a CD right then. Heck, how does this matter when you can pay for a CD, burn it and listen to it via iTunes with no weird stupidity involved? If you don't want to buy something from iTunes, you don't have to.

I'm not inferring you are gay, more that your support for Apple appears fanatical... I don't want to install software to copy files & I will not allow any manufacturer force me too. (Not when it is not needed) That is the start & end of the issue for me. P.S. A burnt disc is not as robust, or will last as long as a pressed disc.
