Hi, I'm almost certain I've read about MFC for the Macintosh in the past, but I can't remember when and/or where it was. Anybody got a clue for me? I'm curious about this. -- Alex Marbus www.marbus.net But then again, I could be wrong.

Yes, MFC is (or used to be) supported on the Mac. Through v4.1, it supported Win32s as well. If you look through the header files, you'll see references to Mac-specific stuff. --Mike-- http://home.inreach.com/mdunn/ #include "buffy_sig"

I see some references to Mac-specific code in the headerfiles (mostly #ifdef's), but are you sure it supported the Mac? It's hard to believe, a Mac doesn't have anything like a HWND, or messages? (Or am I wrong?) You don't happen to have a link for me with some detailed information about this? I've searched MS's website but didn't find anything so far. Thanks! -- Alex Marbus www.marbus.net But then again, I could be wrong.

MFC for the Mac came with Microsoft Visual C++® Cross-Development Edition for Macintosh. I used it a few years back. I remember it cost a lot of money and wasn't part of the MSDN pack. We used it for a couple of small projects but it proved too difficult to try and maintain the same code base across too different platforms. (Most of the issues were down to UI but a lot of our legacy code made the task harder) I think Microsoft gave up with the compiler when VC5 came out. see this MSDN article for more info http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?URL=/library/backgrnd/html/msdn\_fromone.htm Michael :-)

Mac support certainly existed - I used it for a while. It was an add on for VC++ 4.0 which compiled code for 68k and PowerPC macs running System 7 or later on the PC, and then transfered them to the Mac for testing/debugging. The programs I wrote using it ported smoothly, but they were very simple. I never found any need to learn much about the Mac OS. Niall.
