Surely paying back government debt is only an issue for people with jobs, who pay taxes ?

It isn't, because people without jobs wont be able to find one since higher taxes always mean high unemployment and reduced economic activity.

If you don't know what you are talking about - please don't. England played well in the period of the match in which they scored disallowed goal. They scored 2 goals in short time, on the half-time result would be 2-2 and the second half might look completly different... but to hell with all this, if you only need to see 20 mins make complete judgment about quality of a team then great for you.

Well good for them, but I didn't make a 'complete judgement' on the team. I said I only watched for a short time and I only commented on what I saw. But with a 4-1 defeat (perhaps 4-2) and potentially the worst world cup defeat that the England team has ever had, I would be reluctant to say that they played well.

Are you trying to say that erasing half of scored points in a middle of the match has no psychological effect? Then would you be kind to give me half of your savings and everything you own then? Or are you saying that it had no effect on players because you didn't see what was happening?

As I said they played well in one period of the match in which they scored 2 goals and I see no reasons for fall of quality of their play other then erasing HALF of scored goals.

No I'm not, and certainly you can give them some leeway for that but as they're professionals who get paid huge quantities of cash to perform in these matches, you can't really use it as an excuse. Unfortunately one of the reasons I watch football is for massive c*ck up's like that goal though, because they don't use video replays and the ref has to make split-second decisions alone it means that some unscrupulous players take advantage in an effort to get other players sent off and obtain free kicks, which really ruins the game. Also, because of the system the Refs get way too much flac, for sure there will be some corrupt ones around but the majority of the time they have to make a quick call of what they thought they saw from 20 yards away and it's unfair to put all the blame on them when they make a wrong call.

These matches? Only if it was true. We're talking about national teams here, where they don't get wad of cash for playing (well they get something if they win the trophy). So all they have is will to play.

Blind, corrupt, deutsche mark stealing, cabbage eating, box head, kraut bastard referee did not allow a perfectly good goal. The world cup has been stolen and those officials should be banned from ever attending a football match again. Even the Germans in the crowd saw it as a goal. We Wus Robbed. Blind Uruguayan cunt should be shot.

So now that England are winning at cricket, the whinging Poms are whinging at football? I felt sorry for England at half time, it should have been 2-2. But after all is said and done, that just means you would have lost 4-2. I've seen several goals like the one Klose scored - all at school. And football is not even a major sport here.

I seem to have been attracting the 1s lately. Partly because I suggested that a little toerag was being a wee bit immature 1 voting others who didn't think he was funny (the ironic thing was I hadn't actually voted for him). Ho hum.

Dave, have you ever wondered why lots of referees give it up? Because of abuse and threats so the people running matches have to take what they can get. I leave your post as an example including that first you call him a kraut and then Uruguayan. A year or so back on local TV there was a bit about refereeing of kids football and one ref was giving it up after twenty yers because of the abuse and violence from parents. As a result matches are cancelled because noone will put up with that and the kids lose out on what should be an inpsiring game.

No - you got one voted for making a dumba$$ remark. You might find this hard to believe but you're not always funny. We lost, deserved to lose (disallowed goal or not) get over it.

You can't assume that, the Germans' final two goals came off the counter attack because England were forced to push everyone forward in order to try and make up the goal that they were not given earlier. This meaning the English defence would have been able to stay back a little more during the set plays in the second half. Hence why DD says it would have been an entirely different game.

Yeah you make a fair call on the disallowed goal though dont blame the germans for the ref Its _yet_ another case where FIFA need to pull their collective heads in and employ the video referring system that so many other sports use - and they need to crack down on rubbish diving - its making a farce out of the game Bryce

Yes, something like a review of any suspected dives after the game and if it is deemed to be a dive then hit that player and that club with a financial penalty. That would be a start at least and wouldn't 'slow the game down' like so many people are worried about.
