Dumb Action Of The Day. I was remotely connected to a server via MS RDP. After all the necessary changes where completed, I had to restart the machine. So, I click start > restart. Well whaddaya know? I restarted my own machine.

 Normally I restarted another server remotely by accident.

Who wanted to restart his own machine, and ended up restarting the server.

I've done that. It's far better than doing it the other way around.

Some remote stupidity on my part: Try to 'restart' the network connection by disabling it and then enabling it. Only disabling it kills the remote desktop session as well

Not quite related, but my "most stupid" was when I started a Win Explorer search once, and got a dialogue telling me to "Click Cancel to stop the Search", so I clicked Cancel.

I spend quite a lot of time on Teamviewer (full screen). Go to Home Page AAAARGHHHHH what's this AOL???? And I've done the rebooting trick a few times.

Hi all, I think I may have this beat. Back in Win98 days my work PC was giving me grief. Warm/Cold reboots did nothing. Windows setup was also on the drive so I reinstalled Windows. Nothing. I had a whole bunch of stuff on the drive so I didn't want IT to reimage the machine. Now here's where I went wrong. I listened to my buddy. He says: "At home I've had that happen and I just drop to DOS, wipe C:\windows then reinstall Windows." So I did this, thinking I would reinstall from the Windows setup directory on the drive. After quite few minutes (strange, Windows wasn't that big at the time), the c:\windows directory is now clear, taking with it the c:\windows\CABS directory where the Windows Setup files were kept! :omg: I convinced IT to restore Win98 manually rather than reimage. 2 days later I got my PC back and was told that if I did that again, they'd reimage my PC without allowing me to back anything up! :D Not fun. -EM
