I for one am surprised, I would have expected all the mutations caused by the radiation to widen the biodiversity. Maybe the mutants are just not viable.

IIRC from Biology class, mutations happen all the time, and most are not viable. Radiation exposure merely accelerates the pace of mutation, and does nothing to improve the odds of survival.

Still that means acceleration - and asthe recent millions of years show, the trend is towards biodiversity. OTOH 24 years are noise compared to the history of life, and biodiversity seems to increase in jumps - when for whatever reason new niches open up. Still still, moderately increased radiation doesn't need to increased mutation, apparently, there are some mechanisms to adjust "repair rate". Friggin' complex, I say.

It should be all colors but blue. I mean, if it keeps all the colors, and reflects the blue, then it can't be blue, right?
