Sanibel Island is beautiful. Well, it was when I visited as kid 38 years and several oil spills ago. :) Marc

No oil and still beautiful. Just a $6 toll to get on the island.

Interesting. It looks like that'd be cheaper than daily aircard rentals (something I've looked at once or twice to try and avoid hotel wifi gouging) after a few uses. It's a pity they don't offer a mi-fi type device.

Most decent hotels will give free wifi: if not in-room then in the lobby.

Hi all, Well i'm still here, eating too much, and the kids are having an ace time. Finished the Kentucky Leg of the holiday for my brother-in-laws wedding, USofA weddings are so different to UK ones... There have been some amazing thunderstorms, and the temperatures have been hot and its affa sticky. This weeks forecasts are to break the previous records.. Some of you might recall i was asking about sim cards etc, before i left, particularly with data allowance, had a look when over here, and there is no simple option for the mobile phone sim route, however, i noticed ReadyBroadband in the airport and this works great. For $100 you get a usb dongle and 600MB allowance, and then $75 for each additional 1GB. This maybe sound expensive, but not when you compare it to what it would cost with O2 (1MB = 6GBP!). Anyway, time flying another 9 Days to go, the rest it is going to be a disney fest, (2 days of disney was enough before we went to Kentucky! so don't know how i'm going to cope, better just go with the flow.....) Away to have lunch with the princesses at Cinderella's castle in Magic Kingdom. the joys! So, M I C - K E Y - M O U S E and have a magical day to you all (see i've been practising!)

S'ok. Biritish weddings are different from American ones, as well.

Most of my hotel going has been for SF cons, it's been about 50/50 there; and that's not even counting stuff like Dragoncon[^] which is spread across 4 gouging hotels, or hotel's whose wifi is simply overwhelmed by the load from geeks. Penguicon[^] has had the latter problem the last 2 years. In 09 the hotel wifi just curled up and died once guests started arriving in mass around dinner time Friday. This year the con organizers took over the hotel network and managed to, if only just, keep it up but it was overloaded to dialup bandwidth with worse latency. Their IT people are hoping that Clear will have WiMax in the area in time for next year; because the limiting factor on upgrades this year was that running new wires from the ISPs would be staggerly expensive while with wimax they could just rent a few modems at the fastest plan and multiplex them.

Well, it's been wet here most of the time you've been away, the wind is howling from the North and the rain is horizontal. Nothing new, normal summer. One nice day and the midges ate us all alive.... Enjoy :)

I know it was sunny in Bristol on Sunday - that's where the sunburn on my head's from...that'll teach me to expect overcast weather @ the balloon fiesta and not put on either suncream or a hat... Have to say though...a fair bit of the previous week was miserable in Bristol (my parents live just north of there) - I got soaked to the skin taking the dog for a walk on the Tuesday...

Java, Basic, who cares - it's all a bunch of tree-hugging hippy cr*p CodeProject MVP for 2010 - who'd'a thunk it!
