Chrome and IE8
-
I haven't used IE8 for along time, but for some reason i opened it up this morning, and started viewing CP with it. What immediately crossed my mind was; 1) IE is not a smooth when page loading, it is very blocky as it renders all the various sections 2) IE is not as fast (maybe thats the same as smooth). 3) That damn annoying click noise when you click a link. Never used to bother me, but so used to not having it in chrome. I feel dirty now having used IE, and not in a good way...... X|

I use Chrome only as it loads much more faster than the other browsers. While uploading or modifying article in CodeProject or doing bank transaction, in those cases I use IE/FF (preferably IE in most of the cases).

IE8 is now our corporate standard (moved from IE6 3 months ago) so I spend lots of time in there. I only just found out what F11 does to a browser. Stepping through some code and somehow managed to switch windows, F11 and all my bits disappeared. Took google to sort it out!

I'm very happy using Opera - the fastest browser on Earth, thank you. Comparison here[^] Among many other innovations, it has a killer feature called Opera Turbo which will save tons of traffic for those of you that have a traffic quota on your Internet plan.

I went the other way... I used to use Chrome for a long time and switched back to IE8 recently. IE is slower when rendering, scrolling, executing javascript etc... but at least it has an RSS reader and several more basic features Chrome doesn't have. And all sites work fine with IE8 (which, unfortunately, can't be said about Chrome). In the end, whichever browser you choose, you will always have several reasons to hate it...

TBH, I've never noticed these touted speed differences between the browsers (I use IE8, and latest versions of FF, Chrome and Opera). What differences exist are minor compared to network latency. Therefore, it comes down to overall features and usability for me. For me right now Firefox wins. But I do regularly switch to the other browsers for certain tasks because I've also learnt that no one browser is better than all others in all respects.

I wouldn't go as far as that but there are always several deficiencies.
