British English is no less dumbed down than the language our ancestors spoke. :rolleyes: In the case of some peoples favorite buggaboo word gotten you're the ones who're guilty of trying to dumb down the language by removing the word from your vocabulary.

I think you believe that English is in the public domain, when infact it belongs to Her Majasty the Queen of England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Canada, Austrialia, New Zealand..., and therefore it is the right of her subjects to improve upon the language.
