Comment from the page: "We've not exposed the "DefaultFileName" property on SaveFileDialog due to time constraints." What a load of BS! This comment was more than a year back, and not a single person in MS could implement that feature in a span of 12 months. My @#$%, programming must be a lot harder than I thought!

I guess so, this is the trouble with using bleeding edge technology, it usually takes a couple of iteration releases to iron out the creases. BTW: It wasn't meant to rhyme.

I have been working with SL for sometime now. There are certain requirements that are taking longer.

Seriously SL5 should be packed with goodies and fixes now more people are using SL in serious projects. I'm doing a SL project accessing our system over the net using SL are the client and WCF as the proxy between the external databases and systems.

Jystad, 2001It should have been done in the first release where the Save dialog was made available. Every other instance of this functionality in MS code (.NET, MFC, SDK) has supported a default file name feature from day one. They know how to do it, they just couldn't be bothered to pay attention for the five minutes necessary to do the job correctly. It makes it sound like Silverlight was implemented by a couple of interns sitting in a Redmond Starbucks™.

I know it's not much comfort, but it will be fixed in SL5.

Deal :) I may be out of line here but you could probably roll your own and sell it. MS responds well to competition.
