    A shade frustrated after nearly 3 weeks of trying to find a new contract - grr. WHY oh WHY do positions come up that are URGENT (now where have I heard that before?) then then get pulled because "it wasn't signed off". There are clearly project managers out there who have sh1t for brains and aren't able to plan a project properly that are deciding how many people they need. I can handle the "you don't have enough experience in ASP.NET, no TDD work etc" but to be p1ssed about from pillar to post is getting rather galling! Rant over

    He took it all too far, but boy could he play guitar!

      The hardest part of getting a contract through a recruiter is the recruiter part. Part of them aren't advertising positions, they are seeking resumes which they use as leverage to entice potential clients. Personally, I have found with a 100% success rate, if the call I get from a recruiter is not fluent in English I will not get the job. (The other half of my problem is that I charge way too much, hard for a recruiter to get their 30%, wtf!)

      Need custom software developed? I do custom programming based primarily on MS tools with an emphasis on C# development and consulting.         Nowadays, most of the positions, you are getting are already filled up, they are just their for these stupid recruitment agencies market analysis (actually resume gathering and filling up their useless database, and then getting more spam once you are selected somewhere). So that it doesn't look like the market is dead. X|

          From my experience I would guess it is the recruiter who is pulling your chain. I have been messed about badly by recruiters who blatantly lied to me about setting up interviews either by phone or in person. Of the five or six that I was involved with a few years ago when trying to find a job, only one had the honesty and decency to tell me directly that I did not have the level of experience the client was looking for. Conversely, with all the companies I dealt with directly I was treated decently, even if I was too old for them.

          Just say 'NO' to evaluated arguments for diadic functions! Ash

            Around here, all of the recruiters post the same jobs because they all are bidding on them. I had one recruiter try to put me in for a job at a company right after I finished the interview for the same position with a different recruiter. Some of the recruiters will not tell you the company that has the opening because you could contact the company directly, but that means multiple companies might put you in for the same job as well. Another thing that I dislike about some recruiters is that they usually want to reformat your resume/CV. this usually means they just stick their header on and remove your contact information. This can really mess up a resume. I have seen mine look like crap after that has happened.
